Neil Sedaka - That's When The Music Takes Me Lyrics
That's when the music takes me
Takes to a brighter day
That's when the music takes me
Helpin' me to find my way
When I'm down and I think my hope is gone
Oooh, Yeah,
That's when the music takes me
Closer to a brighter daaaay
I can feel my soul explodin'
There's a good feelin'
Helpin' me to find my waaay
My, my, my way
When the bluebird sings her sad, sad song
Oh, yeah,
I can feel the spirit move me
I can almost touch the sky
Reachin' for a new tomorrow
I know it's hard
But music makes me waaaaanna try
Wanna try
And then
That's when the music takes me
Takes to a brighter day
Yeah, yeah
That's when the music takes me
Helpin' me to find my way
(That's when the music takes me)
(That's when the music takes me)
Oh, yeah
But when the music takes me
Closer to a brighter day
I can feel my soul explodin'
There's a good feelin'
Helpin' me to fiiiiiiind my waaay
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
And then I'm sayin'
That's when the music takes me
Takes to a brighter day
Yeah, yeah, yeah
That's when the music takes me
Helpin' me to find my way
Happy, happy, happy day
Happy, happy, happy day
Happy, happy, happy day
(That's when the music takes me)
(That's when the music takes me)
(That's when the music takes me)
(And that's when the music takes me)
Happy, happy when the music takes
Whooooooo

Neil Sedaka That's When The Music Takes Me Comments
Brilliant
Loved this song from my teen's x
Incorrect, it's 1975 that Sedaka's record.
That's what happens when a concert pianist writes genius songs
Fantastic......at 85 I can still move to this though not perhaps as fast as I once did.
this sounds like it could be an elton john song
...great song, from a fantastic album. I was 14, when it came out; enjoyed every track!
Aided and abetted by Graham Gouldman, Lol Creme, Kevin Godley-engineered by Eric Stewart....very shortly to be known as.....10 CC
At their Strawberry Studio.
Yep! Bloody versatile band, they were.
And they did two albums with Sedaka. He was quite a fan of the band, really.
When I first heard this song way back in 1972 I thought a black woman was singing this on AM radio.
Wha???? You mean that Neil is NOT a black woman????? LOL
funny, cause when my son was growing up in the early 2000's he always thought "laughter in the rain " was sung by a large black woman. ~ lil bro
@Saul Barbosa That is hilarious. NEVER did I associate Neil Sedaka with large or black. He had a very feminine voice similar to Wayne Newton, but the "large black woman" comment just cracks me up. That made my day.
@Fred Azbell true story, my son was born with natural musical skills, but this subtlety slipped by him. fyi i always thought the stylistics leader was female and shocking blue ("venus") was male~ lil bro
Love this song....
This filled a lot of dance-floors in England in the 1970's. At that time Neil was much more popular here than in the USA
