Neil Sedaka - One More Mountain To Climb Lyrics

Hey, Lord
Won't trouble never end?
Tell me
Are you still my friend?
I got such a heavy load
When will
I reach that glory road?

One more mountain to climb
One more river to cross
I come such a long, long way and still
I gotta long way to go
Weary all of the time
I've been tumbled and tossed
There's always one more mountain to climb
One more river to cross

Hey, Lord
I'm nothing but a man
I try to do the best I can
Sometimes the road is hard to see
Please, Lord
Won't you walk along with me?

One more mountain to climb
One more river to cross
I come such a long, long way and still
I gotta long way to go
Weary all of the time and I
I've been tumbled and tossed
There's always one more mountain to climb
One more river to cross

One more mountain to climb
One more river to cross
I come such a long, long way and still
Gotta long way to go
Weary all of the time
I've been tumbled and tossed
There's always one more mountain to climb
And one more river to cross

There are artists where a "Best of" won't do justice. Because you'll miss gems like this one.

Today I found an old file on my system with a list of music to download. I was amazed (when I made the forgotten note, and again today) that this song was composed by Neil Sedaka (with lyric by Howard Greenfield).

I've never been enthusiastic about Neil Sedaka. But I have new respect for him now.

I've known this song since it was released in 1971, and later covered by a shitloade (that's metric!) of other artists, including the Canadian band Skylark (the version most recognizable to me, I think) and Dr. Music.

I've unconsciously thought of it as a "standard" — maybe even a "traditional" piece. To me, it has come to rank as an English-language standard, and even a "traditional" or folk song within my own lifetime.

Which reminds me that it's a mistake to underestimate another human being, even if you've found him/her irritating at times. : { ]

The key shifts are especially impressive.
