Neil Sedaka - Betty Grable Lyrics
When I used to be a little kid
I used to go
Every Saturday afternoon
To the picture show
My life wasso serene
I lived through every scene
With my movie queen
Betty Grable
Three hundred howlin' kids were always pack the house
But they just came for Donald Duck
And Mickey Mouse
But there would be a world of fantasy
She sang and danced for me
Betty Grable
Lots and lots of pine up shots
I had them all
And there they were pasted up
Upon the wall
When mama said
That it was time for bed
I'd eat some jam and bread
And watched your overhead
Betty Grable
Just the other night I saw her on
Some late, late show
And it occurred to me I'm someone that
She'll never know
So I wrote this little song
For the lady that I've loved so long
Betty Grable

What? Lol! That's funny! Neil Sedaka was around loooooooooooong before Elton John.He also wrote Calendar Girl for Betty in 1960's.Educate yourself!

Alas, this song didn't come out until after she died.
You hear this song and you just wish that Betty's personal life could've turned out better and that she could've lived much longer. Such a talented and beautiful woman. At least she was able to have an incredible career and hopefully at least some happiness along the way. R.I.P., Betty. You'll always be missed.
I saw Neil when he came to Guernsey many years ago ,he is still amazing ,come back soon please xx

Love this song. Strangely enough, I heard it first from the Kings Singers. They do it so well! Piano backing here is beautiful.
Object?? You're kidding! It's all beautifully done.

Lovely song!
Wonder what would happen if he changed "Betty Grabel" to "Judy Garland"? I bet all the gay folks would sing it day and night.
Thanks for taking the time and trouble to upload this.

This was my favourite song as a kid - the first piece I ever choreographed a tap routine to (when I was 7), and out of all the many routines I've done since, still probably one of the best! Guess that's what a great song does when it inspires you.
Thanks for posting - the images are lovely
Sometimes we try to describe what a song means to us & its effect on us. Just sometimes a song is so well crafted that it stands alone & we just smile & know inside just what was written & why this is 1 of those
