Neil Sedaka - Bad Girl Lyrics

I don't believe a word they're saying
What they're saying isn't true

Everybody calls her bad girl (Bad bad girl)
Everybody put her down (Bad bad girl)
Why don't they take the time to understand
She's looking for a love she's never found

And it's only cos she's lonely (Bad bad girl)
That's the way she got her name (Bad bad girl)
All she did was look for someone to love
And they put the girl to shame

(Hey there she's not the girl for you)
Well you don't know her like I do
(Hey there listen to your friends)
If you're gonna put her down, here's where our friendship ends

I don't hear a word you're saying (Bad bad girl)
She's the one I'm dreaming of (Bad bad girl)
So don't you ever call her bad girl again
Cos she's found someone to love

(Hey there open up your eyes)
All I see is just a pack of lies
(Hey there she's gonna break your heart)
I'm gonna listen to the rumours that you start

I don't hear a word you're saying (Bad bad girl)
She's the one I'm dreaming of (Bad bad girl)
So don't you ever call her bad girl again
Cos she's found someone to love

great to hear this in the original "kind of" mono mix...(i do hear a little stereo, but its no as bad as some of the blatant stereo versions i hear of this on youtube)

On this day in 1963 {December 21st} Neil Sedaka performed "Bad Girl" on the ABC-TV program 'American Bandstand'...
At the time it was at #34 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; the next week it peaked at #33 for one week, then the following week it was at #52 and that was its 8th and final week on the chart...
And twelve years later on October 5th, 1975 “Bad Blood” peaked at #1 for three weeks on the Top 100...

This song has a great chorus and a Lou Christie/Bobby Vee feel to it. A very underrated Sedaka song. Ironically it was his last hit until '75 and it was out when JFK was killed.

I was born in the very early 50's and fell in love with Neil Sedaka's music the first time I heard him. Before I was even 10 I was often running away from home, going to the local AM radio station, watching the DJ's while they worked, then even built and operated an actual working low power a.m. radio transmitter complete with 2 turntables, 2 reel-to-reel tape recorders and 2 microphones, and had people listening to me all over my neighborhood when I was 14. All thanks to the many disc jockeys, news casters and engineers who all took time to talk to and mentor a young kid who practically lived at their station. But just as much, thanks to all the wonderful musicians, record producers, recording engineers and DJ's who LIVED to play the greatest music the world had ever heard! ( I did grow up to be a DJ at several 100,000 watt FM stations and an engineer for several TV stations; wish I had stayed in that line of work and never left it; those were the happiest days of my life!). So NEVER UNDERESTIMATE the effect for good or bad that YOU might have on some one's life by some small thing you say or don't say, or by the little bit of quality time you might give them...you may be mentoring a potential billionaire, doctor, teacher or just ensuring someone becomes a good person in life.
