Neil Diamond - Rocket Man Lyrics
She packed my bags last night, preflight
Was zero hour, nine a.m.
And I'm gonna be high
High as a kite by then
I miss my lady
It's lonely out in space
On such a time, time
Such a timeless flight
And I think it's gonna be a long, long time
Till touchdown brings me round again
To find I'm not the man
They think I am at home
Oh no, oh no, oh no
Rocket man.....
Mars ain't the kind of place
You want to raise your kids
In fact, it's cold as hell
And there's no one there
That can raise them, if you did
And all the science I don't understand
It's just my job five days a week
I'm a rocket man
oh, oh yeah
Just a rocket man
And I think it's gonna be a long, long time
Till touchdown brings me around
To find I'm not the man
They think I am at home
Oh no, oh no, oh no
I'm a rocket man
Rocket man...
Rocket man..

Neil Diamond Rocket Man Comments
It's a shame that these 2 legends never recorded together. Both of them have gotten the opportunity to record with some legendary ladies : Elton: Dionne Warwicke, Neil: Barbra Streisand. I think anything they would duet together on, would be fantastic. The "hiccup" might be on who would write the song. Would Bernie and Elton team up, Neil and Bernie team up, or better still Neil and Elton. Neil is a complete composer, Elton will be the first to tell you that he is mainly a tunesmith. But it doesn't matter. Like I said, I think whatever they come up with, would be great. Neil can no longer tour due to health reasons, and Elton will still do concerts, just not the world tour ones he used to do. But they both said that they would remain creative and make music for us fans to enjoy. Here's hoping that some way, somehow, some day, they can get together some place and record a song. If it's meant to be that they record together, perhaps their creative juices will really flow and we get an entire album from them! {And if Bernie wants to, he can also join in on a collaboration or two or three....!}
There is something about Neil's voice--the timbre, the "growly-ness"--that i find sexy as hell. It's like he is stroking my skin with his words.
love it
