Neil Diamond - I Dreamed A Dream Lyrics

There was a time when girls were kind
When their voices were soft
And their words inviting
There was a time when love was blind
And the world was a song
And the song was exciting
There was a time
It all went wrong

I dreamed a dream of time gone by
When hope was high
And life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving

When I was young and unafraid
When dreams were made
And used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung, no wine un-tasted

But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
And they tear your hope apart
As they turn your dream to shame....

She slept this summer by my side
She filled my days with endless wonder
She took my childhood in her stride
But she was gone when autumn came

And still I dream she'll come to me
That we will spend the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather

I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I'm living
So different now from what it seemed
But life can't kill
The dream I dreamed

Neil Diamond was in 1977, four days on Tour in Netherland.there were problems with the Hammond organ (117 Volt America-Europe 220 Volt) I'm approached by Lou van Rees Management for a solution to my Hammond Rent. After four days I got my B3 Hammond returned with Fire spots of Cigarettes. It frustrated me.They have me removed me from the Neil Diamond Fan Club because I had this listed on their site.Never Excuse of Neil Diamond ☹️🎹'

As a young teenager. My parents were divorced. So my father wasn't around in my life. But when I needed him and he could not or would not be there. I would go into my room put on my headphones 🎧 and listen to Neil. He was always just a push of a button away. This was in the mid seventies. And he's still just a push of a button away.

  19. J.... S....

You took a beautiful song and made it better! This is what I mean your heart, and soul have grown! You believe in hope! Judy Sherry

In zijn aankondiging zei de nu helaas ook met parkinson kampende Diamond dat hij ‘this brand new song from a brand new broadway musical’ als eerste bij zijn publiek wilde introduceren (letterlijk: I want to be the one to introduce it to you’). In plaats van ‘Now life has killed the dream I dreamed’ zong Diamond ‘But life can’t kill the dream I dreamed’.

Babe I'm here I love you I'm yours no more worries

  51. R.... M....

Neil changed the last lines because he is all about what a great artist should be. Hope.
He is such a talented humble wonderful singer song writer; mocked by music snobs who are clueless and loved worldwide by millions and whose songs are covered by artists as diverse as Deep Purple , the Monkees, Gilbert Becaud and Cher.
He deserves to have every lifetime achievement award in existence.

  52. R.... M....

    Christ I love this guy.
His voice is far from perfect but the way he sings its that raspy baritone voice pure soul pure heart so original so cool.

    R.... M....

People that can't/don't/won't appreciate the great talent of Neil Diamond are missing something in their soul.

    R.... M....

    Pamela Wheelis agreed!

  67. R.... K....

Saw him live, a fewyears ago, near Southampton- his presence cast a spell over all of us

  68. L.... L....

Just love Neil Diamond - since I was 17, a while ago now. 💕

  69. s.... ....

A good job, but he does talk/sings this.
Susan Boyle's version is perfect, even 'tho it was "fixed".
By that I mean it looks like it was pre-recorded, and she lip synced it.
Notice the camera is far away as she sings. Then the camera spends time on the audience and judges.
Only at the end do you see her up close, and it looks like lip syncing.

  70. A.... D....
