Still listening in 2020! Can’t get enough of this beautiful song and even a more beautiful rendition by this fabulous singer! I’m from the Caribbean island of Trinidad and have been and still am, a diehard fan, and always wished to attend his shows, then my wish came true when I moved to New York in 1988. Although he has newer performed this song at any of the concerts I’ve attended, this song has always been and still is my most favorite! Love love this song and still play it over and over! Neil Diamond you are truly the best!

As Neil stated - _"I’ve always regretted not filming the Hot August Night_ _concert in ‘72, an album so pivotal in my career." -_ ND (2018) Sorry to hear that you feel that there are images that do not fit in with the song. I made every effort to stay true, in my opinion, to the song with the inclusion of images of his Dad, Mum and family. As Neil is an extremely private person, suitable images are hard to come by. i have been his die hard fan for 50 years and he still mesmerises me with his rendition of his songs and music. Amazing and awesome talent as songwriter, singer, musician and thinker. Every song of his resonates with his experiences in life and i can relate that to my experiences in my life . When i listen to his songs , i go back in time and get lost in his music and voice. His voice and music just touches your heart and feelings like no one else. Truly a legend and musical genius. jan 2020. This song brings back memories of family.

Loved his voice brings tears to my eyes to hear him sing like this....I remember having his cd that i played and played still have the cd all those years but it was a vinyl record then a cassette that i played in my car and drove round and round the block just playing it...

I have met with Neil on quite a few occasions and seen many of his concerts, the last in London at the 02 in 2017. I wish I could have been at the Hot August Night one and is still my favourite album.

Neil Diamond has an unfair advantage over other artists - he has direct access to your heart somehow. I've thought a lot about it and it's probably because he has felt and lived through a certain experience/emotion only he can convey using simple words and sentences which make it honest and loses none of the original emotion - whatever it is, Neil Diamond has it - the innate ability to touch your heart through genuine emotion and effortless, velvety smooth bass that has no equal.

I became a Neil Diamond fan in 1984 when I heard his voice with "Love on the Rocks" in a radio station in Mexico. I had no idea what the lyrics meant, nor one day I would see him in concert and would meet someone who worked for him.
I listen, "Canta Libre" and my heart just melted with joy and tremendous admiration. I only fall in love with his voice. I was 13 years old. Years went by, in 1988 a friend of mine went to N.Y. and I asked him to bring me a couple of cassette tapes from him. I listened and listened over, and over again, until I learned the lyrics, yet I had no idea the meaning of the songs. When I moved to L.A., my brother gave me the VHS movie he made, " The Jazz Singer " My uncle had a couple of LPs, which I do not know how I copied, but I did. So I started to have my own collection of tapes, copied LPs. And one movie. And, in 1992, I went to the Great Western Forum to see him for the first time. Then a few years later, my sister gave me for a birthday present a ticket to see him again at the same venue. So many, many years later in the early 2000s, I was working as a server, there was a kind, fun, and sweet man that used to go and drink a margarita to watch the ball game.
One day, my coworker says to me, our body wants to talk to you, the margarita guy, so I went towards his table. He says to me, Lisa told me that you are a Neil Diamond fan, is that true?, I said, Yes, I've been in love with this music since I was a little girl. He says to me, I worked for him, I am his wardrobe man. I was speechless!!!. He said he is going to perform in Fresno, Ca. in a couple of months so If you like I want to invite you and a friend to come to see him. Not only he gave us complimentary tickets to see him, but we had very close seats to the stage. He also had an 8" by 10" black and white portrait picture of Neil autographed by him for me. It as a magical moment, after the concert we hanged out with the band, Neil did not interact with fans, but understandable because it was a freezing night in December. I cannot emphasize enough how grateful, lucky, blessed I was to experience such a joy and generosity from my friend. He fulfilled a child's dream come true. Who knew that listening " Love on the Rocks" was going to leed me to have long-lasting memories of Neil. My endless platonic love!! Thank you, T.W. :)
