National, The - I Should Live In Salt Lyrics
Don't make me read your mind
You should know me better than that
It takes me too much time
You should know me better than that
You're not that much like me
We have different enemies
You should know me better than that
I should leave it alone but you're not right
I should leave it alone but you're not right
Can't you write it on the wall?
You should know me better than that
There's no room to write it all
You should know me better than that
You should know me better than that
There's too much crying in the sound
I should know you better than that
I should leave it alone but you're not right
I should leave it alone but you're not right
I should live in salt for leaving you behind
Behind
Think about something so much
You should know me better than that
Start to slide out of touch
You should know me better than that
Tell yourself it's all you know
You should know me better than that
Learn to appreciate the void
You should know me better than that
I should live in salt for leaving you behind
Behind
I should live in salt for leaving you behind
Behind
I should live in salt for leaving you behind
Behind

🤣🤣🤣 Dream on. The National are in completely different league. The Lumuneers have one song... From an advert
Love how this song throws a measure of 5 every so often. So cool.
what is a measure of.5?
@mason tom They use a rhythmic combination of 5/4 and 4/4 in the composition. It's difficult to properly explain it, but one can actually count it with some effort.
I love salt, and that's why I'm on 2 blood pressure medicines. I don't smoke or drink caffeine, and I'm still not in the best of health.

Hearing it on the show, "Manifest," brought me here.
This song was featured on tonight's new episode of manifest on NBC
Live version is better!!!!
Don't make me read your mind...You should know me better than that? I should know you better than that? I should leave it alone but you are not right.. I should live in Salt... Stubborness and Pride Kill Love. That is the message of this amazing song.
I have a brother. This song reminds me to strive to be his friend despite his many many difficult attributes.
This song has no BDE
thanks mat
I love this entire album! This album introduced me to The National... I love the chamber pop sound. It is real, raw and beautiful... no other band in the world like this!
Melody Rosas stop...

first to know
listened to this basically on repeat last year, while in the middle of me and my gf fighting. we eventually broke up, really badly, and this song still reminds me alot of our last times together before everything fell apart. still love her
It's like I had written these words buddy. I was in a similar situation and 6 months on, I'm having to pick through the debris of what was left of our life together.
And it's miserable.
All the best boys
ronald reagan I'm banging her now...u don't mind do u?
o jesus so fucking depressing.
I'm in total love with this song!!!!
Never heard of this band but they were lumped in with one of my faves in an article so I looked up some of their tunes and lyrics... This one hit me like an arrow to the chest
+1ManNamedDan What is the name of one of your favs? I'm looking for music close to this style if you have any good suggestions.
The Shins "Caring Is Creepy" would be closest as well as Boy and Bear *Harlequin Dream" might be a couple songs to match the National's mood, the article I was reading was "Bands from the 90's - 2000's still going strong today"... one of them was Queens of the Stone Age, which are one of my faves but they're much more "sex drugs rock&roll" than The National but I still appreciate a well crafted song and also enjoy stepping out of my my comfort zone to find new. Let me know if any of these strike home with you and I might find you something else to dig.
Thanks for uploading this.
Love this band.
