Never heard of this band but they were lumped in with one of my faves in an article so I looked up some of their tunes and lyrics... This one hit me like an arrow to the chest

The Shins "Caring Is Creepy"  would be closest as well as Boy and Bear *Harlequin Dream" might be a couple songs to match the National's mood, the article I was reading was "Bands from the 90's - 2000's still going strong today"... one of them was Queens of the Stone Age, which are one of my faves but they're much more "sex drugs rock&roll" than The National but I still appreciate a well crafted song and also enjoy stepping out of my my comfort zone to find new. Let me know if any of these strike home with you and I might find you something else to dig.
