A lot of comments on here about Coldplay giving away this track. I think Natalie Imbruglia sounds amazing on this - but this song would have probably been given more of a promotional push if it had been released by Coldplay. In many ways, that highlights the tragedy of the music business - wherein songs are not promoted and relegated to obscurity just based on who the singer is. Every song should be evaluated on its merit as opposed to the "in the moment" star factor of the artist performing the song. It would have been great to see Natalie Imbruglia have a comeback with this song. I am still glad she got this song. Not releasing this as the lead single for her "Come to life" album was a misfire.

Lack of soul and heart. This is no different than any pop starlets rendition if they had the chance to cover. Typical indistinguishable karaoke effort. What a waste if you can appreciate the instrumentals that go behind this track. I didn't say only Chris can deliver it justice. I'm open minded to a female cover. The pool of female talent out there I am certain can deliver more than a subpar effort.

i would really like to hear coldplay perform this seeing as chris wrote it

Guy is quite shy and doesnt say that much in interviews with the other guys.
I play bass for 1 year now and without lessons I can play all their full albums. Some songs are hard to learn but even the more easier songs have awesome basslines. Its indeed more about if it fits the song. And I dont think funky basslines really fits in Coldplay songs. Maybe its the best he can maybe not but he's holding it back cuz it doesnt fit the song. We might never know.

I partially agree with you, in that matter a bassline that js just one note played over and over again could work better than a very complicated and hard to play line, but Coldplay is, and always has been about expression. The thing I'm saying is that Guy is not expressing himself. I saw him play twice this year alone, and it's like he's invisible while the other members (especially Martin) are all over the place; running around the stage, kissing the floor and making snow angles in the confetti

Okay, I agree with you on how the song didn't really change,but the bass line is pretty much the same. I've got to say, however, that Guy is not a bad performer. It isn't about skill, friend, it's about the emotion that goes into it, and Guy's bass lines, while not hard, are sufficient for the song and that should be all the matters--the song--not his level of skill.

What exactly did she change to make the song an entirely diffrent genre? The lead (guitar/piano) or text didn't change even though we all want Chris's awesome vocals (not to say that Imbruglia is bad). The only real thing that DID change, is the bassline. And by god, for all the love I have for Coldplay, Guy is an awfull perfomer, sure songwriting's good and all, but any bass player that played bass for at least 2 years could play what he plays.

Coldplay's instrumental is way better than this. The only reason this is good is you can figure out where the lyrics go in the instrumental. Chris would be way better. This is such a sweet and peaceful song and she turned it into some stupid pop sounding song. What a shame on Coldplay's masterpiece. Absolutely one of Coldplay's best songs!

Lukas is and was my first love. He alwas came back to me and I always went back to him. But last time I "refused" him for several reasons. We live so far from each other but he will always have a huge piece of my heart. I will always remember him. My sweet sweet German boy.

It's a shame to see everyone here is JUST talking about Coldplay and Chris Martin. Yes, it's nice to know the roots of the song, however your in the wrong place. I think Natalie does a splendid job on this. The fact that this is a hard to find album disappoints me a bit.
