Nash, Kate - Under-Estimate The Girl Lyrics

Everybody play, play it so safe
No one wanna mess, mess with the rules
[x4]

I feel like my head may explode
All my friends keep me alive though
I feel like I might survive alone
If I get my...

My release, my release
My release, yeah my release

I keep my cards close to my chest
My heart is otherwise undressed
My heart is on my sleeve

Under-estimate me
Under-estimate the girl
Go on, under-estimate her

You keep pretending you're happy
You keep reading your magazines
My baby is fucking me
Love the ones you say you hate
If you choose to hate the ones you love
You probably made a big mistake
But hey

Under-estimate me
Under-estimate the girl
Go on
Under-estimate her
Under-estimate me
Under-estimate the girl
Under-estimate her

Everybody play, play it so safe
No one wanna mess, mess with the rules
[x4]

No one wanna mess, mess with the rules [x3]

  12. R.... G....

Una canción que amas u odias o amas y odias al mismo tiempo. El comienzo y final son perfectos con esos bajos. Los gritos son un poco escalofriantes. Debió haber experimentado más este estilo. Una lástima.

  13. N.... B....

still loving this in 2018 ♥

  14. N.... B....

Ugh, everyone complaining about "cultural appropiation" y'all are soooo fucking boring

  29. M.... L....

    Forever loving you Kate.
But no to the cultural appropriation

    M.... L....

emo lord In 2012 tumblr hadn't even made up cultural appropriation

    M.... L....

Basic Trash made up or acknowledged? Acknowledged, sure. Kate is now anti cultural appropriation herself, so.

    M.... L....

:::eyeroll::: Better go back to the 90's when Gwen Stefani was in No Doubt. Nevermind the fact he was dating an Indian guy.

    M.... L....

I think you need to get off the internet, get laid and get high, then all shall be right with the world. Chill. ✋🏻

    M.... L....

Wow! What happened to the Foundation groove??? Diggin the riot grrl 60s vibe tho. Damn this beotch is seriously talented

  30. S.... L....

My first YouTube comment/the first time compelled...but I really admire this chic...she's absolutely dynamic...originally sponsored by Lily Alan (who's a badass in her own rite), Kate has catchy melodies in her bubble-gum ballads...and simply dominates in the punk songs, Anyone else feeling Hole, Belly, and a spice of Sneaker Pimps???!!!   Keep it comin' Kate!

    S.... L....

    @Shawn L * Lily Allen

  31. N.... T....

Truly fuckin dire you were born with a talent many of us do not have, youre singing no screeching is not entertaining .We are well aware of the gift you have with Made Of Bricks, it would seem you have taken one the  aforementioend  bricks and chucked it the window with the words career painted on it mmm If it helps Netto are looking for check out girls just saying.

    N.... T....

Don't like it? Don't listen to it. There's a whole load of tracks on the new album where she shows off her pipes.

    N.... T....

Then tell me how would you know what its like unless you listened to it a least once .My opion is as valid as any one elses dont like it dont read it.

  36. A.... L....

    LOOOOVEEE IT!!!! UHUUU YEAHH!!!!!!!

  37. N.... A....

    OMG I LOOOOVE THIS

  38. S.... Y....

YES psych rock, post-punk, riot grrrl, there is a fantastic revival of this kind of stuff going on. It's GREAT to see female singers utilising a full vocal range and expression of voice. This kind of DIY 80s/90s angry feminism is STILL needed, and still important. Women have as much shit to shout about as they did back then so yeh this music is still important, and by the way, still bad ass :P

If you like this, other "modern" riot grrl type bands to listen out for include:
    Skinny Girl Diet
    Warpaint
    Savages
Deers (though they have now changed their name to "Hinds" but are still awesome!)
Cherry Glazerr (in particular in enjoy their fanTASTIC ode to PMS: "White's not my colour this evening" !!)
    Girlpool

    Enjoy ^.^

    S.... Y....

    thanks!

  39. y.... e....

    Riot grrrl as fuck

  40. u.... ....

Not going to dislike or anything. Think it's just not my type of music.

  41. L.... H....

She's got a real Patti Smith punk sound here

  42. K.... L....

This is so fucking good. I'm glad I haven't seen her do anything beyond wearing bindis, though...

  43. K.... M....

    amo mucho esta cancion

  44. b.... ....

reminds me of warpaint in the beginnig and in the end. besides, i love her old songs as well as i LOVE her new style, she is flawless

  45. I.... V....

I saw this girl in Querétaro México, never havent seen nobody performing like she does

    4 me the best permorfer

Im not talking about if she is the best musician, but certainly is the best performing

    I.... V....

Really? I live un Querétaro and I didn't knew she performed here, crap ;c

  46. W.... S....

I think her fans don't really listen to much punk or riot grrrl, I mean, how could you dislike this? It's the bomb!

    W.... S....

    we are her fans

  47. A.... L....

    Kate's the bomb ♥

  48. R.... M....

    Still funny.

  49. d.... t....

    girl no dance hi

  50. A.... ....

The beginning and the end are wonderful! If she subsituted the middle part it would be a perfect song

  51. A.... L....

I started singing this in school and people thought I was crazy

  52. n.... c....

i love the direction kate nash is going all the way, fans that are attached to her more 'relatable' love songs with some cutesy beep-boops in the background  aren't going to be flexible with the change into grundge-y raspy punk but i love both so you can all suck my ass

    n.... c....

Ha, well said! I loved the sound of Girl Talk too.

  53. l.... ....

I love this!!!!!! It's so unique, she always pushes the limits, love it!

  54. D.... ....

It's Grunge rock crap. Bad direction Kate. Bad direction.

    D.... ....

    you're crap

    D.... ....

    Incorporation, not diversion.

  55. M.... K....

This could be on Hole's 'Live Through This'.

  56. K.... D....

    But I still love Kate

  57. K.... D....

This one song was a ton better than a lot of the songs on girl talk

  58. b.... ....

Well dang... I'm so confused right now.

  59. O.... T....

Kate Nash is the coolest women alive, who gets offended by a piece of fucking metal? its awesome, she doesn't give a fuck unlike you boring awful people. This song is literally amazing

  60. M.... ....

Very talented lady. The brightest star on the scene for ages. She loves to challenge herself & her fans. No standing still. Brilliant.

  61. r.... j....

I love the song, especially the loud bass.

  62. R.... M....

    Horrendous shit.

  63. A.... R....

    Me lembra The strokes D:

  64. w.... ....

above all the last minute is gorgeous!

  65. A.... L....

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. So there is no point in arguing on a youtube comment with another user.. Anyways, I agree, I didn't like this song when it first came out. It was a bit of a surprise and disappointment.  Then I watched a shit ton of her interviews and went to her concerts and now, I completely understand where she is coming from and I respect her so much more.  It is EASY to keep producing albums like previous ones and playing it safe.  She is taking a risk and just fucking what everybody else thinks and is doing what makes her happy. GO KATE NASH! Fuck yeah girl, keep doin' your thang!

  66. K.... M....

This has a Kathleen Hanna feel to it...yet I can't decide if I like it or not.

  67. g.... ....

This song is a beast live.  She ended the recent Toronto show with it.  What a blast!

  68. B.... H....

This song is about the freedom of not having a record company. The bindi was a bad choice, but this song/video took no planning at all. It's meant to be a live jam, not a hit single. The only reason it got so much negative attention is because it was her first time releasing new material in 2 years. Most artists and labels would probably play it safe and debut what they think is a radio hit after taking a hiatus, but Kate bravely vented through experiment in her new-found freedom.

  69. K.... L....

I love her new music so much. God damn.

  70. R.... ....

Indian cultures wear bindis a lot of the time as a fashion statement, I know someone who went to India and talked to some women about white people wearing bindis, and they said they don't care at all. We've been integrating and learning from each others cultures for plenty of years. Without cultural integration we would've never grown. What is so wrong with learning and appreciating each others cultures, we're all people in the end.

  71. p.... p....

GODAMNIT WITH ALL YOU RAYS. JUST KNOCK IT OFF ALREADY. JESUS ITS ONE DAMN LETTER ITS NOT THAT HARD. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE THE ALBUM IN FRONT OF YOU JUST STOP BECAUSE WHATEVER IVE LOST HOPE IN RAYS LIKE YOU GETTING BETTER AT ENGLISH SO BYE

  72. B.... T....

she looks like Lana Del Ray

  73. R.... T....

I just think bindis look nice why does it have to be offensive?

  74. m.... ....

Well, she's wearing the bindi because it has something to do with the song. Maybe you shouldn't be so judging.

  75. M.... H....

It's not "celebrating someone else's culture" when you're taking one very small aspect of a culture, removing it completely from its context, and using it to be "cute" or "edgy." Google "cultural appropriation bindis" for some really good articles explaining why this isn't okay.

    M.... H....

Mary Houston how do you know if it is to be cute or edgy? It may have personal or symbolic meaning. I know that’s why I would wear a bindi. Not all wear is automatically superficial.

  76. H.... H....

What is she doing to me. At first I hated this song, this screaming, this style, and look at me now, I just can't stop listening it *___*

  77. C.... D....

    Great song :))

  78. K.... ....

This song makes me wanna dance!
Why always being little sweet Kate, if she is so muich more?

  79. a.... s....

This song was written for pussies, by the biggest pussy

  80. N.... B....

    She's a crazy, retarded bitch.

And that's why I love her.

  81. a.... s....

Why is everyone so hung up on the bindi and not the fact that this song is awful?

  82. T.... D....

I think theres nothing wrong with her wearing a bindi. Gwen stefani did it in 90s. A lot more have done it. She wasnt the first. But its nice to see someone like her appreciating simple features of a traditional culture. Theres nothing racist about that. Iglf youre saying shes a white girl therefore should not attempt to educate herself of and appreciate other cultures then thats racist.

  83. C.... D....

    * interpret the signs and symbols. She likes what shes wearing and is not abusing it and taking the piss?

  84. C.... D....

Whats the difference between Kate Nash wearing a Bindi and people who are not religious wearing crosses? Its not rasist! Its how you interpret

  85. T.... ....

Damn, i dig that sound. Didn't expect that at all when I clicked the thumbnail.

  86. m.... ....

    where's the racism?

  87. M.... G....

This is what I have preferred out of her, heavier lashing rocking out, hopefully she'll continue to express in this manner.

  88. M.... C....

Agreed, Kate Nash is all about girl power but somehow sees it ok to ignore an entire culture and use the Bindi as fashionable WHY DOSN'T EVERYBODY NOTICE THIS IS RACISM. Makes me feel bad for even listening to this, such a shame

  89. T.... ....

i think you are right, this a new kate she's not like the first album or the second one , she's different and like her don't you, ilove all her albums = )

  90. S.... P....

    Girl Powerrrrrrr

  91. D.... M....

    superb!

  92. l.... ....

Wtf?some people can scream and others shouldn't attempt it..maybe I'll like it with time..

  93. S.... ....

I love the "new" kate nash, a LOT.
    yell ahead kate!

  94. m.... d....

    Omg this is bad

  95. p.... ....

Horrible. Will never be respected in the underground....

  96. J.... S....

    cuz she's fuckin kate nash!

  97. M.... S....

I love all the haters it just proves Kate's awesomeness.

  98. G.... ....

Give it another listern. Like my man parts, it's a grower.

I'm off to buy the album, cheers.

  99. G.... ....

Firstly, that fact that it's "trendy" for celebrities to wear bindis doesn't make it OK. Secondly, why is it that this white woman can wear a bindi, but Indian women who wear bindis and understand their significance and cultural context are discriminated against?

  100. G.... ....

I think you're so unaware of your white privilege that you don't even know what "(cultural) appropriation" is.
