Nancy Sinatra - Run For Your Life Lyrics

Well I'd rather see you dead, little boy
Than to see you with another girl
You better keep your head, little boy
Or you won't last in my world

You better run for your life if you can, little boy
Hide your head in the sand, little boy
Catch you with another girl
That's the end, little boy

Well you know that I'm a wicked chick
And I was born with a jealous mind
And I can't spend my whole life
Trying just to make you toe the line

So you better run for your life if you can, little boy
Hide your head in the sand, little boy
Catch you with another girl
That's the end.

Hmm.

Let this be a sermon
I mean everything I've said
Baby, I'm determined
Cause I'd rather see you dead

You better run for your life if you can, little boy
Hide your head in the sand, baby boy
Catch you with another girl
That's the end

You hear me?

Well I'd rather see you dead, little boy
Than to see you with another girl
You better keep your head, little boy
Or you won't last in my world

You better run for your life if you can, little boy
Hide your head in the sand, little boy
Catch you with another girl
That's the end, little boy

Nancy Sinatra Run For Your Life Comments
  1. A.... J....

This is so much better than the original. I particularly love the spectacle of pompous MRAs getting huffy about it in the comments.

  2. E.... d....

She doesnt sing the original lyrics... how sad , I really wanted to envision this story of her and another female. This should be considered highly offensive in this day and age of sensitivity.

  3. A.... C....

    Nancy Sinatra a beautiful lady

  4. J.... J....

    This is just hilarious!

  5. J.... O....

This version sounds like something you could have put in a James Bond movie back then. Nancy always had that cool voice. 😃

    J.... O....

Agree, heard this on Breakfast with the Beatles the other day driving to my kids house and wondered if it was Nancy for starters, but then Goldfinger popped into my head.

    J.... O....

Nancy did indeed sing the Theme to A Jame Bond film! *You Only Live Twice* from 1967 -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hs8uYxTJ530

  6. I.... C....

Is little girl nt little boy 😂

    I.... C....

@ECO dom I'll interpret. He's saying " the original lyrics are 'little girl'. Nice try, changing it to 'little boy".
    ...
I estimate that men are losing about 20 IQ points each generation. We are now at that point where they can no longer express themselves in sentences or without emoticons, and a woman needs to interpret for them. I figure, in about one more generation, women will need to change their nappys for them.

  7. c.... A....

    crazy feminist.

  8. J.... ....

She'll have Daddy send some of his muscle!

  9. v.... ....

Lame attempt from a "I'm famous because of daddy" girl trying to put a spin on a Beatles' classic. Fail!

    v.... ....

    i piss on this comment

    v.... ....

Nah she's had a long career of her own and a huge cult and not so cult following. This just shows your musical ignorance really.

  10. L.... A....

Shit I nearly sold this-looked this up-phew near miss 💥

  11. w.... c....

it should be " Little guy" not "Little boy"

    w.... c....

No. guy kind of insinuates that she means man... hes not a man hes a boy. ;)

    w.... c....

This is the girl version of the song by the beatles with the same name. And in the original song, by the beatles, they say little girl.

It's upsetting to admit that not even the Beatles were immune to internalized misogyny, and even wrote a song extremely misogynistic, even for the time. This song expresses a dangerous mentality either way, and no matter who sings it, or what gender you put on it, it expresses something immoral. At the same time, the wannabe feminist in me feels a bit of satisfaction from hearing this cover.

Singers, however, don't just express ideas that they do agree with. During Christmas time, several non-Christians sing songs about the birth and divinity of Jesus. There are songs I sing from musicals that are expressing the ideas of fictional characters. Heck, a friend of mine wrote a song from the perspective of Mark David Chapman, the man who shot John Lennon.

    R.... R....

the lyrics in question were stolen directly from Elvis. doesn't make it better, but a bit of context can't hurt

    R.... R....

Lennon himself disliked this song. It seems that his post-Beatles song "Jealous Guy" is an apology for "Run For Your Life".

    R.... R....

I like the song both the original and this but agree the lyric is an unhealthy attitude and certainly misogynistic. But it reflects life not everyone has their head screwed on as it should be. I think I might even prefer Nancy's version the best.

It's not internalized misogyny. Internalized misogyny is when a woman behaves misogynistically because of being conditioned to hate herself and/or other women. Lennon has said that this was his least favorite Beatles song because at the time he wrote it, he treated women badly. He was a hitter. He was controlling. He was jealous. This was also around the time that he wrote 'Jealous Man'. There's a great interview here on YouTube where he talks about how he came to terms with his own misogyny and insecurity, and how Yoko opened his eyes to what was called at the time "the women's problem". He said that until then, he didn't realize how badly women had been treated all over the world since the beginning of time. After explaining all this, he did a performance of his song, "Woman Is The Nigger of the World", which was controversial even then because of the 'N-word' in the title, but the song was meant to be controversial and to make people think. I think it showed tremendous bravery and compassion that he was able to really look at his own behavior and attitudes and make a change in himself. Yoko has faced nonstop hate from the very beginning, but John and people who were close to him all say that she really helped to change his life for the better, and inspired some of his best work. She was even responsible for coming up with the idea for Imagine! Most people don't know that she essentially wrote the song, and there is tangible evidence to back it up. Yoko was not a singer, she was an artist. Yet, people still continue to bash her for her singing voice, when she was more focused on the message and the lyrics than she was about the sound, and there's still the absurd lie that she supposedly "broke up the Beatles", which is objectively untrue. John was sick of the band and wanted to do his own thing. He also fell in love! But people still act like a bunch of teenage boys who are indignant that one of their friends grew up and got a girlfriend, so he doesn't have as much time to hang out anymore, so they blame it all on her. It's pretty insulting to John and his ability to make his own decisions, as if she cast some evil vagina-spell on him or something 😂😂😂! There's a fantastic documentary on Netflix right now about this time in John's life. I highly recommend it! It's called 'John and Yoko: Imagine'.

    R.... R....

They erased a LONG comment I made because I mentioned the song, "Woman is the N-word of the World". Ugh, what a waste...anyway, John admitted to being an abuser and that Yoko really opened his eyes to what was happening with women around the world. He turned his life around completely. Here's a great clip about this https://youtu.be/S5lMxWWK218, and I also highly recommend the documentary on Netflix called, "John and Yoko: Above Us Only Sky". It talks about this time in his life and how the world's opinion about Yoko is not only completely false, but the opposite. Did you know that she was responsible for 'Imagine'? Fascinating stuff.

  13. P.... C....

"Run for life"! Cause here comes The Beatles. Yea, Ye, Yea!

  14. C.... L....

    Harsher version of Boots lol

    C.... L....

"Boots" is more about rising up from being abused. This is direct abuse.

    C.... L....

Robin, which is fine with you, obviously...as long as the "abused" is male." Pathetic feminazi.

    C.... L....

You've simplified what I said. Assault is assault no matter who does it. When it comes to listening to the music, I have mixed feelings. When it comes to that behavior in reality, I also stand against abuse when it's done by a woman to a man.
