Nancy Sinatra - One For My Baby (And One More For The Road) Lyrics
It's quarter to three
There's no one in the place except you and me
So set 'em up, Joe
I've got a little story you ought to know
To the end of a brief episode
Make it one for my baby
And one more for the road
Well, I know the routine
So put another nickel in the machine
I'm feeling so bad
I wish you'd make the music dreamy and sad
Could tell you a lot
Make it one for my baby
And one more for the road
You'd never know it but, buddy, I'm a kind of poet
And I've got a lot of things to say
And when I'm gloomy, you simply gotta listen to me
Until it's talked away
Well, that's how it goes
And Joe, I know you're getting anxious to close
So thanks for the cheer
I hope you didn't mind my bending your ear
This torch that I've found
Gotta be drowned or it's gonna explode
Make it one for my baby
And one more for the road
That long, long road

Nancy Sinatra One For My Baby (And One More For The Road) Comments
He does this so effortlessly
Completely in character and in the moment. Like watching a scene from a movie. Makes me think he could have been a great director. I found that he did in fact direct one film.
Just got my hear broken.. But I'm sure the pieces will come together soon.
Thank you Blade Runner 2049 for taking us back!!
Watch out for strangers!
I thought I was cool until I seen this. Thanks Frank ☹️
This June, 1962 concert in London during a world tour is the best live concert video of Sinatra in his vocal prime. He was the greatest singer in the English language at this point. Nobody could match his expression.
You know, this shows why Sinatra was such a talent. The guy could act. You can hear any number of people who can technically sing this song about as well as he could, maybe even better in some rare and exceptional cases. The song doesn’t have a huge range or demand a lot of dynamic contrast. This song requires you to be able to act and deliver these lines to an audience as if it was just you and the bartender. You don’t get the full experience just by listening to this. You have to watch. Even a gesture as simple as rubbing his face, or looking down at his cigarette must be perfectly timed to land and create an emotional reaction in the audience that creates the illusion that this is real. It’s not just a song, and it wasn’t rehearsed. I’m not sure we’ll ever see mainstream musicians accomplish this level of performance ever again, and that really makes me sad.

Absolutely love Frank. That voice, charisma and he was handsome to boot
“🎤eeeez and sad,” 🎤is beautiful phrasing of the lyrics. Sinatra looks really high. Nice video. Thanks for sharing.

Frank Sinatra was the real man with the best voice of humankind.

God among mortals
Priceless. Astounding. __ a treasure thanks for the post ___ rip great one
Outstanding performance. His voice, intonation and facial expressions sell this story completely
I remember when I was younger, I was soul searching, going around the western US and doing odd jobs here and there, such as a bouncer, debt collector and even a private eye. Anyway I ended up in this small town in Nevada. I met this guy who was kind of the sheriff of the town. He and his friend were the kind of the protectors of this town, going out to exterminate pests and help out the people there. He was a veteran and had served as a sniper for the army, and his buddy helped spot him on missions, and after multiple tours with each other they settled down in the town. The guy was very hard pressed, very un-emotional, I later found out from his friend that the guy had seen some shit while serving, and so he kept his emotions very well hidden After talking to him he said that his wife had disappeared, and he wanted me to look into it, since I mentioned I used to be a private eye. Everyone else said that she had just packed up and left but no one knew for sure. I did some snooping and found out that there was a woman in town who had in fact kidnapped and sold her off to this cult in the mountains. I was shocked and knew what I had to do. So I found the wretched woman who sold her and asked her to come with me to the edge of town. She compiled and when we got there I put a red beret on my head. Then, suddenly BAM, the guy blew up her head with a sniper rifle from his position in the mouth of a giant T-Rex statue. After that he agreed to tag along with me, as he didn't feel welcome in his town anymore. So for a really long time me and him went all across the Mojave wasteland, wishing for nuclear winter.
god this would be so good to see live
I'd pay serious money to be as cool as 1:01-1:11
patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter
Incredible....❤
anyone 2019?? 🥺🖤🖤

*ONE FOR MY BABY*
One for my baby, Craig Boone.
Is it just me, or was he really drunk for this performance?
I don't know this but...he was in a guantlet...respect
Ah - the 60s - when a performer could casually light a fag halfway through the song.
Mighty long...:)
What is he on?
It's quarter to three
There's no-one in the place
'Cept You and me.
So set 'em up Joe,
I've got a little story
I think you should know
We're drinking my friend,
To the end of a brief episode
Make it one for my baby, and one more
For the road
I've got the routine
Put another nickel in the machine
I'm feeling so bad
Can't you make the music easy and sad
I could tell you a lot
But you've gotta be true to your code
Just make it one for my baby, and one more
For the road
You'd never know it, but buddy I'm a kind of poet
And I got a lot of things I'd like to say
So when I'm gloomy, won't you listen to me
'Til it's talked away
Well, that's how it goes
And Joe I know you're getting anxious to close
And thanks for the cheer
I hope you didn't mind my bending your ear
But this touch that I've found
Must be drowned or it soon might explode
So make it one for my baby
And one more for the road
The long
It's so long
The long
Very long
He looks completly fucked . Lovley drunk song
No taller tree, no higher branch, no leaf further skyward... the great man effortlessly stumbles through this classic, punctuated by a cigarette... but the higher they climb the further they fall...
Cada cancion de Sinatra arrulla el alma
Ahh Frank. You were my kinda man is all.
"he didn't want any answers... he just wanted to talk."
God, this is beautiful. Rest in Peace, Frank
Crooning with a vape wouldn’t be nearly as cool.
Not sure, but I don't think any singer wanted to touch this song after Sinatra released his interpretation of this classic
Greatest live performance ever. End of discussion on that.
Sinatra and Bennett are velvet. Titans of music.

Gotta love Sinatra.Met him sitting on a street corner in Paris, I was 12.Frank sat next to me and said" kid it can't be all that bad"He reached into his pocket and gave me, a 100.00 bill ,Tipped his hat and winked .Thats Class , That's Frank 🇫🇷.
Classic Johnny Mercer! Never forget the genius who wrote this song
Wow. The man knew how to feel a song.
So , Smooth,It Just Flows, Only Frank Could Do This, , And Any Of Us Older Dudes, Had Probably, Been, There, Pouring Out Our Hearts, To A Bar Tender, Over. A Girl, In The Wee Hours , Of The Morning, Its Real Life, !!

Yes ...The definitive performance.....This is sublime.......
sweet, sad, beautiful perfection
I love you, Frank 👑💘
please alcochol, not tonight
This is gold.
This is just a small example of how great SINATRA was/RIP ole blue eyes.
In 1956 I was a kid still living in Paris.I sat on a corner watching all these German tanks going down my rue, they were filming a movie.Frank sat next to me and said "hey kid it can't be that bad."Then he stood up , put his hand in his pocket and handed me a hundred dollar bill .He just tipped his hat and winked .I didn't no enough English to say how much it ment to a poor kid like me. 🇫🇷. Class , I'LL never forget him.
his phrasing, his delivery, the whole performance - a supreme master of the art and an actor/singer extraordinaire. very reminiscent of jacques brel and tom waits in the way his character becomes the song and vice versa.
Just amazing.
this is class this is black&white gold
Thank you obsidian and fallout new vegas for bringing frank sinatra into my life
Damn. His phrasing. Amazing.
Even FS thought his performance on Ist June 1962 at the RFH was special.
The midnight concert was utterly compelling, and he had the audience eating out of his hand for
ninety glorious minutes.
The DVD of that show shows him at the very peak of his powers.
No wonder Miles, Amy, Basie, Harry Connick Jnr, BB King and Iggy Pop rated him so highly.
how cool is that.
a fucking great performance
3:40 I love how he sings while walking away from the mic
That pinky ring...he gave it to Q !
This song sounds stupid....
MORE MORE MORE!!!!!
Great atmosphere
Such a wonderful voice
To strangers.
Absolute perfection
Amazing. Never seen a performance so intimate and capturing
these kind of songs is what makes a heartbreak a little bit more bittersweet. helps you heal the wounds of an unrequited love, even when you thought it wouldn't have worked.
Frank was reciting in this song, he wasn't singing.
the road is still too long, if you ask me.
What a great performance from the chairman of the board
Poor Boone and K

Herr in 2019
A night walking alone in the Streets of Paris would be perfect with this song.....✌
As a 16 year old teenager in 1959 I played Frank non stop full blast when my parents were away in Spain and now as a 77 year old I still play Frank on my lovely vinyl record player. I have decided this version will be played at my funeral as it is sheer perfection . Also my late husband Norman Foley bore a remarkable physical resemblance to Frank. Spooky or what!
He's just....... so cool.
Stratospheric!!!
Never ever will this get old. He is forever
Cig in one hand, drink in the other, crooning. Damn, those were the days.
The Chairman will never be surpassed! Do you think this song is near when Ava left him? How could she have left our Frank? They say she was his greatest love. Phyllis Ortiz
Great artist and master entertainer - always this gorgeous conversation with the audience.
Anybody with any appreciation of artistic genius.
