Naked Eyes - Once Is Enough Lyrics

Looking out at new horizons
Looking up at shooting stars
Where's the hope that we relied on
Now it seems we've gone too far

We should know better
'Cause there's not much time
We should've known
Shouldn't waste our precious time

Killing time can murder love
That's the crime we're guilty of
What's the point of playing tough
Oh, once is enough

Fire to fire
You're ash to ashes
Who will be the first to strike
But then does it really matter
When we put out the final light

We should know better
'Cause there's not much time
We should've known
Shouldn't waste our precious time

There's nothing left for us to say
So, this is our reward
It doesn't matter anyway
Of this we can be sure

We should know better
'Cause there's not much time
We should've known
Shouldn't waste our precious time

Killing time can murder love
That's the crime we're guilty of
What's the point of playing tough
Oh, once is enough

Killing time can murder love
That's the crime we're guilty of
What's the point of playing tough
Oh, once is enough

Killing time can murder love
That's the crime we're guilty of
What's the point of playing tough
Oh, once is enough

What's the point of playing tough, if killing time can murder love?

    J.... L....

    Killing time can murder love
That's the crime we're guilty of

Love this-- the first I've heard it since 1987 when a friend loaned me his "Fuel for the Fire" cassette tape. A few years ago I tried to find it but could only get the "Promises, Promises" compilation which lacks this song.

  5. F.... D....

Amazing Song =D One of the best Synth of the 80's New Wave

  6. J.... H....

This isn't on my greatest hits CD. I'm sure I haven't heard this song since the 80s.  What a nice surprise.  WOnder why its not on the greatest hits?

    J.... H....

Myself! It's on the "Everything and More" compilation, but I recommend that you buy the original album cd "Fuel for the Fire" now available on amazon. The "Promises, Promises: The Very Best of Naked Eyes" compilation that I bought a few years ago has most of the songs from "Fuel for the Fire" but not this one.

Love this song. What a great group.

  8. A.... M....

    reminds me of Howard Jones

    A.... M....

+Anthony Martinez I like Jones. But, Naked Eyes were/are much better than H. Jones (No offence to Jones). And quite original.

    A.... M....

Agreed, they could be a lot edgier/poignant emotionally than either Howard Jones or Tears for Fears (with perhaps the exception of "Goodnight Song" and "Until I Drown", and perhaps a few more!)

  9. p.... ....

Most underrated 80's-Synth-Pop-Band of the whole 80's...
...forget quickly Wham! or Spandau Ballet!
RIP Rob Fisher and thanx for all the joy.
Get both great albums now as "Cherry Red"-Reissues - w/all the 12"-Versions...

One hit wonder my middle eye! The world just wasn't listening!

    M.... ....

Only their True Fans know of all of their Songs which the masses largely ignore. The radio doesn't help when all they ever play is the same two songs over and over " Always something there to remind me & Promises Promises."

    M.... ....

    MondoJohnny I agree

Somehow this Naked Eyes song escaped me. I've never heard it, but I really like it. :-)

  12. M.... S....

It still sounds as New Musik weren't split after 1982. Great Tony Mansfield production, he added some cool 12 strings chords too.
