Three years later, they actually do let you share the video, and ads are now attached to pretty much everything you see online. I see the video itself as advertising...encourages discovery of new music, increases sales of music. That's the whole point of a music video, to increase awareness of the band and music. That's why I always thought it was dumb to disable embedding. Increased sharing equals increased awareness, which theoretically should lead to increased music sales.

On the other hand, you know, they're giving it to you for free.
