My Bloody Valentine - No More Sorry Lyrics

What happened now
And again
And then again
And again
Loved me black and blue
No more sorry

Flesh and bone
Not alone
You're not alone
Waiting by the telephone
Whatever you do
Don't call daddy

In my head
Everywhere
Everywhere
And everywhere
Fingerprints of you
Filthy daddy

Wash and mend
And wash and mend
Some kind of friend
Your septic heart and deadly hand
Loved me black and blue
No more sorry

My Bloody Valentine No More Sorry Comments
  1. F.... C....

The song is dark af, that cannot be denied, but don't take lyrics too seriously. Remember lyrics are the last thing they worry about and even Bilinda herself admitted what she writes is pure non sense.

  2. D.... P....

I think that this track was a great influence for Deafheaven!

  3. .... a....

    *broken heart emoji*

  4. p.... ....

this song is about Bilinda's ex ( she a had her first son with him quite young), a dude probably high on drugs who treated her bad

  5. R.... B....

This was my least favorite song on the album until I realized it’s about Bilinda getting abused in her childhood and by her ex husband. The emotional intensity of this song is unreal, like a lot of MBV’s catalog

  6. E.... R....

    perfect rainy afternoon song...

  7. e.... j....

this song sounds like a scalding hot shower that someone might take after a traumatic experience
at least that's what i think when i hear it
for some reason it's comforting to me because it has a warmth

  8. Y.... $....

at 1:52 upto 1:54 theres a certain sound in the background, it sounds like a voice or something. can anyone tell me what that is?

  9. T.... ....

    Peak Shoegaze

  10. J.... B....

this song creeps me the fuck out.
the effects on the guitar, the start/stop dynamic, and the way bilinda sings it all come together to form something very unsettling

  11. J.... J....

Easily their most emotional, honest feeling songs imo. Simply crushing

  12. N.... ....

    кто пришел от Да Нила?)

  13. .... ....

    Da_nil dich posovetoval(

  14. .... ....

  16. b.... ....

Bilinda's voice sounds so dry and dark it's kinda creepy. The whole song has a both mysterious and weird vibe.

  17. K.... I....

Heartbreaking and devastating. Can't hold back the tears with this one...

  18. M.... ....

    Brilliant.

  19. R.... S....

This is my favorite MBV song. Period.

So much emotion put in a 2:47 song.

    Genius!

  20. N.... m....

    I recently discovered this band...Now... I'm crying

  21. l.... ....

During the part where it goes quiet, ie when she sings "filthy daddy" you can hear some other music in the background.

    l.... ....

    It's drums starting up.

    l.... ....

    They are ritht

  22. S.... V....

I love this song but I can honestly say it scares the shit out of me. The entire vibe of it. I think it's about child abuse.

    S.... V....

Mambo Nassau I feel this hardcore. It's weird bc most people are like "wow this is so beautiful" but it genuinely freaks me the fuck out in a way. I love that about it, but it can be kinda overwhelming

    S.... V....

Yeahhh it's a creepy AF song "love me black and blue", talking about not being able to wash off filth. No More Sorry. It could very well be about abuse. I always felt like it was about not being able to wash off the stains of a haunting memory, whatever it may be rooted in.

    S.... V....

    singer has confirmed this basically

  23. l.... ....

Always loved the timing of this song - the lead guitar is always that much further behind the "beat" than you expect.

  24. l.... ....

is that a drum machine I hear on the background?

    l.... ....

I think it's the bass guitar, the pitch changes.

  25. M.... S....

    this is not music

    M.... S....

How is this not music? Perhaps you need to expand your parameters. Listen to AMM

    M.... S....

Mohammed Sabty each to their own but respectfully differ.

    M.... S....

    So it is music then.....

    M.... S....

i can do it to: you have no brain

    M.... S....

    Είσαι μαλάκας!

  26. C.... ....

    Goddamn this is heartbreaking

    C.... ....

I think the fact that MBV weren't especially terrific songwriters makes this feel all the more honest and personal.

    C.... ....

    +ChallengedBrickGames horrifyingly beautiful, really.

  27. A.... R....

if you listen closely you can hear an acoustic guitar playing in the background.

  28. U.... D....

    Best on the album IMO

  29. V.... P....

    LITVRGY

  30. J.... M....

The last chord is her opening the door and finally walking away free...

  31. C.... T....

francoise hardy + bathory + winds poem + mbv + julee cruise = this

    amazing music

  32. g.... ....

Does anybody (repeat, ANYBODY) know how My Bloody Valentine made this song? Seriously, I still don't know how the hell they made this song. Did they even use guitars to make this song?

    g.... ....

+georgeharrison70 I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere it was harpsichord synth and a similar sounding distortion layered over the guitar

    g.... ....

+Nic L the melody sounds like distortion with a fast reverse signal (either delay or reverb) and it sounds like they layered chords with either the harpsichord synth or some other patch with mild distortion

    g.... ....

I think they used violin stroke on the guitar with some reverb. Probably some weird tuning.

    g.... ....

    Tremolo abuse

  33. k.... ....

I am hypnotized by the atmospheric feeling in this track.

  34. S.... t....

Ive always been such a big fan of this song so i decided to put together a video for it. Its on my channel, go check it out if you get a chance!!

  35. C.... P....

    "...Filthy, Dirty..."

  36. a.... w....

when i feel shitty this makes me feel like food.

  37. S.... N....

1:52-1:54, very faintly, there's another song???

    S.... N....

I swear it sounds like a snippet of Whitney Houstons "All the man I need". The part where she sings "He feels me up".

    S.... N....

@MS13 It's that annoying song, Goo Goo Dolls - Iris '-ing's made to be broken'

    S.... N....

Yeah I hear it too, honestly can't tell what song it is tho

  38. M.... ....

So wasted, time goes, paste my thoughts alive am I? No? Still waiting for time to speed up, racing past so black I can't see anything falling into a deep abyss of total nothingness, give up and surrender to the darkness while they come from the swirling shadows of alcohol from my bottle capped sorrows...

  39. R.... X....

I prefer Isn't Anything over Loveless, it's more diverse and it has these amazing Gothic rock songs, but they are both masterpieces still yet.

    R.... X....

    loveless is overprocessed

    R.... X....

And that's what's special about it. It's all subjective of course, but I love albums that behave like movies, experiences that can't be replicated live. Sgt. Pepper, Electric Ladyland, and Loveless are the holy trinity to me

  40. D.... I....

only every so often do you come across a song like this. incredible.

  41. n.... c....

Jesus. Chills and goosebumps all over again. Bliss.

  42. K.... ....

    Beautiful in every way.

  43. p.... j....

Absolutely beautiful. One of the best My Bloody Valentine songs I've heard, even compared to some on Loveless.

  44. T.... ....

i feel this song is about rape

    T.... ....

    @***** calm the fuck down

    T.... ....

Tannequa92 and domestic violence. BDSM gone wrong. This song was my 2012-13. A dark period of my life simply referred to as The Bullshit.

    T.... ....

Very sorry to hear that. Its unfortunate that things such as that happen. Hope you are doing fine now.

    T.... ....

If I'm not mistaken, it's about Bilinda's relationship with the father of one of her kids, that she said "he used to treat me very badly" or something.

    T.... ....

+Flower Carnage no one cares fuck off

  45. C.... ....

The first time I've heard this song I thought it was a symphony orchestra or something like that, Kevin is a fucking genius.

    C.... ....

There were 4 people in My Bloody Valentine.

  46. S.... F....

Am I the only one who gets black metal vibes from this? Could help explain the whole shoegaze obsession in the "blackgaze"-wave with Alcest, Deafheaven and so on.

    S.... F....

First thing when I heard this song. Would be interested in hearing a proto-blackgaze song that came before this. Until then, pretty sure this is the first proto-blackgaze song.

    S.... F....

clearly as ever MBV influenced a lot of this new generation of black metal bands

    S.... F....

    Deafheaven lol

    S.... F....

"I’d been making much more depressive music and had this ecstatic experience of listening to MBV’s No More Sorry and wanted to turn it into a black metal song" -HHH from Liturgy

  47. g.... ....

How the HELL did My Bloody Valentine make this song?! Seriously, does anybody know what instruments and effects they used on this? (This song is awesome, btw.)

    g.... ....

I like how you asked the same question two years apart and got totally different results

  48. D.... ....

Definitely the darkest MBV song, lyrically and musically

  49. O.... ....

At 1:53 you can hear another song in the background.

  50. A.... B....

Ughhh Shields make the greatest chord progressions.

  51. g.... l....

    excellent that loveless is
it does not come close to this

  52. g.... l....

    my fave mbv

  53. o.... ....

Just thought I'd stop by and vote up a classic.

  54. S.... I....

I'd hate to be that guy, but Loveless IS NOT fucking overrated, and if you believe it's only half as good as Isn't Anything, you're lying and you're being smug. I know that sounds ignorant, but get real people. Isn't Anything is an incredible album, and was probably even more influential on shoegaze than Loveless, but Loveless is Loveless.

    S.... I....

Michael Gira Loveless is dull and ugly-sounding.

    S.... I....

Agreed. This album has a life of its own, and bursts with its own energy. But Loveless was transcendent. Maybe some people thought it was a step down for them to go full blown sexadelic, but it's practically a concept album in its vibe.

    S.... I....

youre being that guy because literally no one asked you

    S.... I....

@pillz We’re being that guy no one did not not ass for

  55. m.... ....

damn you're right! (Loveless is overrated imho)

    m.... ....

    LOL UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH WOT

  56. D.... L....

Does anybody else think this is an absolutely terrifying song??
    In a good way.
Those rattlesnake percussion sounds in the background.
The start stops (especially the first and third ones)
    So awe-inspiring

    D.... L....

Daniel Latzanich Yesssss it's freaked me the fuck out for years but it's beautiful in that suuuuper haunting way

  57. z.... ....

I wasn't ever much of a fan of Isn't Anything, but this one is an exception . . .

  58. I.... ....

Fcking hell this tune is brakes you in pieces... awesome

  59. H.... D....

    MBV is BAAAACK!

  60. L.... L....

    definitely I agree.

  61. n.... ....

I listen to Loveless whenever I find I'm kind of down or in any bad mood. Living in a world where people do truly terrible things to other human beings, it reminds me of the beauty that people are capable of creating.

  62. 4.... B....

Yes. My point was that Loveless is their best album. And, like you, I believe one of the best albums ever. :)

  63. n.... ....

One the best albums of the 90's? You mean one of the best albums ever recorded. Opinion, yes, but the argument can be made. As a musician, Loveless changed the way I thought about music.

  64. F.... E....

I'm surrounded by white , fuck loveless the above comment is right

  65. m.... d....

this song tears me apart. A glorious pain

  66. L.... K....

    JUST A FUCKING TRIP

  67. A.... D....

    Black Metal.

  68. T.... S....

Whenever I hear this song I keep thinking it's from a movie or show or something. Is it?

  69. A.... ....

Although I don't question that mbv's music may somehow be influenced by the twins, i wouldn't call it derivative of anything at all...i see no reason to compare them to any band...they are different from the twins in a lot of aspects...and i'm a fan of both groups...so my advice is to give that album a second chance my friend, and if you don't enjoy it then, i really hope you are getting as much from the stuff you like as i get from loveless. cheers ;)

  70. a.... ....

lol get yourself ready for the third one.

  71. L.... M....

    Truly unique.

  72. d.... ....

This song fucking rocks my socks off.

  73. I.... S....

    this one...

  74. 4.... B....

@talissin - Except for their second album, Loveless. Which is one of the best albums of the 90s.

  75. p.... ....

@N1ckSc0tt Interesting comparison, but I can definitely see it! :)

  76. T.... ....

    Reminds me of The Residents...

  77. h.... ....

WHERE AM I WHAT YEAR IS THIS

  78. g.... ....

    belinda, qui est tu?

  79. N.... ....

This album kicks mega-Ass. Loveless not a patch (well...)

  80. p.... j....

    @PvtPNutz

    Couldnt agree more

  81. Q.... ....

This is the kind of song where if you could watch the world end and this song was on, it wouldn't even matter.

  82. D.... ....

This song can make me almost cry for no reason other than beauty. And I'm serious on that.

  83. J.... S....

how do they get that guitar effect for the rhythm? Keven Shields is such a genious.

  84. c.... ....

    oh, invented shoegaze.

  85. P.... ....

Best album ever... still got the vinyl in my attic, and yes I wore only black and was very messed up :)

  86. f.... ....

I always felt like this and "Lose my breath" should be merged into one amazing, dreamy wall-of-sound masterpiece..

  87. M.... ....

'Love me black and blue'... This song evokes darkness itself in a poetic way. The lyrics, the melody, the noise... Ohhhh. Out of this world.

  88. m.... ....

in the second stanza it is actually "filthy dirty" that is sung, not filthy daddy

  89. b.... ....

    @WerewolfMorgue

lol, wall of sound mistery resolved

  90. l.... ....

    fucking great song. period.

  91. S.... ....

    poor bilinda : /

    amazing song

  92. c.... ....

I love the wall of sound effect...and those harmonious vocals....this third album of theirs should be magnificent!

  93. W.... ....

1:52, you hear something in the background if you turn the volume up load enough. Sounds like another song playing in the background, haha.

  94. 0.... ....

    YEAH!!!!! LOVE THIS!!!!!

  95. l.... ....

fuck Loveless this is THE SONG period.

  96. J.... ....

I love this song. The intro.
