MxPx - Contention Lyrics

I found this song on my laptop. I totally forgot about downloading it a couple of years ago, lol.

MxPx has survived being independent (except from 2000 to 2004), has more songs, better lyrics and their sound has not changed dramatically like "the new" blink 182. Also, Mike is better than Mark Hoppus.

I love this band. I have since 1994.

nah... thei are better thats right but sum41 - still waiting is better than 2/3 of the MxPx but thats my opinion....

It's called having more talent and originality than the other. Sum 41 wishes they were as good as MxPx, but never will be.

Yeah, MxPx seems to have perfected Melodic hardcore on this one.

It may not be good for every mood, but when I need to get out some anger, it's great to listen to.

MxPx seems to have the most variety of styles of any band. It's kind of nice.

Anyways, what's with Melodic Punk being called "Pop Punk" by the Music Industry?

a crappy band like sum 41 cant stand up against mxpx

That isn't true because MxPx formed in 1992 and got signed by Tooth and Nail Records in 1994. The only thing Blink 182 has on the band is that they got signed to a major record label before MxPx did, whom got signed to A&R Records in 1997.

i wouldn't say: sum 41 looks like mxpx (just in this song), but i prefer mxpx.. i think this song is quite similar to sum 41's genre

This is how MxPx started because Bad Religion and NoFx were big influences to their original sound. Secret Weapon was basically the band returning to their roots.

If anyone looks to the right of this video, there's a video titled Boot Girl Teenage Let MxPx Rock. Do not watch it if you're an MxPx fan because it has NOTHING to do with the band. It was posted by some sleazoid trying to get MxPx fans to view his video.

I might have to listen to the "Secret Weapon" album again, but I think Contention is the closest sounding song to the "Pokinatcha" album as far as the band returning to their roots.

MxPx could own Sum 41 anyday because MxPx has been doing their thing since 1992. Sum 41 were probably still in grade school when MxPx got their first video played on MTV.

This song is very good.

I always thought of this song as a filler track (still great)
But I really think MxPx chose the wrong songs to release videos for on this album.

I would liked to have seen sad sad song, never better than now and not nothing.
