I'm probably too old to make the switch now. But that was a dream of mine for many years. First met Canadians while deployed at sea and they just seemed like a whole better idea all around. Anne to me just exemplified their culture and refinement. Thanks for posting this I believe hers was the first version I heard.

Yes I was. Apologies for the delay in responding. It's Earth Day and I had to be part of a march for science. Very much is at stake today.

I said deployed but in fact it was my duty station ... in the Atlantic Fleet Weapons Range, Caribbean with Fleet Composite Squadron Eight, aka VC-8... when during annual event Operation Springboard the entire NATO navies were in port for target practice at our hosting.

We saw the service personnel from the Netherlands, the U.K. Germany and Canada and their planes and Helo's... how our designs looked in their national insignia as well as some foreign stuff from S. America as well.

Just recall what gentlemen the Canadian pilots were and how friendly the enlisted ones were as well... sort of an example to follow for the rest of us. Can say sort of stayed with me. Keeping in mind this was all pre-Watergate while the Vietnam war was still raging.

We have learned a lot since then. But there she is: Canada, a nation unblemished by U.S. politics.

Oh how different life could have been... if only.

I was two when this recording fist aired and no one spoke about it.. My father was a Glenn Miller fan and had some of his recordings but my mother first told me about miss Page when I was six and "...That Doggie In the Window" song came out. She (Patti Page) has since re-released it to be about shelter pets in need of adoption.

...Better late than never, eh? R.I.P. Pattie Page. You are not forgotten. Far from it.
