Gloria Gaynor's song association brought me here. I've known and loved Nana Mouskouri French version (Mets ta main dans la main) for more than 30 years without even knowing it was a cover!

"Take a look at yourself and you can look at others differently." I think some believers miss that part in condemning others so quickly. It's what C.S Lewis, tried to help us understand in his book 'Mere Christianity.' (written because he wanted to heal the schisms which divided the faith). It's why many people still miss Christina Grimmie (the YouTube phenom/The Voice star who was killed in 2016). She sang like an angel, openly carried her deep love of Jesus, family and frands in her heart; as well as a tattoo of 'All is Vanity.' to remind herself of the empty value of shallow pride within the entertainment industry. Sad that no video has surfaced of Christina singing this song.

Beloved inspirational song...beloved songstress! How I remember her popular voice from years gone by.

She had a pretty voice. Way back when... a time when it wasn't offensive to sing about Jesus Christ. Look at where we are now, everyone worried they're going to offend someone at the mere mention of his name. I'm not offended if someone doesn't believe, why should they be offended that I DO?

Got to give props to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gene_MacLellan he wrote this song and commited suicide in 1995. he lived a very frugal life and his daughter has an amazing voice.

A Gold Disc was a veritable and well deserved accolade for Anne Murray in her career as a singer of many and great fine songs as this attests to in the video.

I'm almost 60 years now and as I'm going back to old music from the late 60's and early 70's, I can't believe how many songs were made famous by people before the version I heard. I don't remember Anne Murray singing it, but I sure as hell remember Ocean, and that is the one I prefer. However, I love Anne Murray and I am NOT putting her down at all!!

Words are different in both verses. Ocean's first verse : "...we're not the people we should be." Anne Murray's verse: " I'm not the gal that I should be." Ocean's second verse is so radically changed that I'd have to quote the entire second half of the verse. Anne Murray's version is consistent with sheet music I have of that song. Ocean changed the lyrics.

It's great not just to know that Anne Murray is the first to sing this song as well as the best in doing so but to listen to this song & not only for people to hear reflections of themselves and others in hearing it as I had myself too but knowing that The Song is about Jesus too and of which can even go over little kids heads like it did mine when I found out when I heard The group of Ocean sing it on the radio in 1988 and for the first time of which I heard it since 1971 on a K-Tel Record ad on TV..

Put Your Hand In The Hand is a great song. Anne Murray sang it really good. I'm recording it next, on Monday. I sing, play bass guitar, dance and show a lot of emotion. I did Oh Happy Day last week, and Amazing Grace and Swing Down Sweet Chariot before that. I thought I better do Gospel songs now that the rapture is almost here. Plus I been preaching hard again. Remembered the tune and a lot of the lyrics but the artist, I looked it up and found out about Anne Murray's version, which I had never until today heard. Amazing how music stays with us - I was in 12th grade when I was listening to Ocean's version on the radio, and just last week turned - ouch! - 60,

Today is December 23rd 2019. I knew Red West had written if everyday could be just like Christmas. Yesterday I was listening to the Elvis station on Sirius Radio and they played Red West singing that song I never knew he recorded and released it. Elvis was the second person to record it and it was a big hit for him. Anyway, I was listening to the Red West version and then Anne Murray singing put your hand in the hand was next so I listen to it. Always liked that song I remember when it came out. I was reading comments came across yours what you posted six years ago and you said you had turned 60 with an ouch. It's now six years later so that would make you 66 and I understand the ouch, I myself turned 63 on the 8th.
