Mountain - Masters Of War Lyrics

Come you masters of war
You that build the big guns
You that build the death planes
You that build all the bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks

I just want you to know
I can see through your masks
Want you to know
I can see through your masks

You that never done nothing
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy

You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run
When the fast bullets fly
And you turn and run
When the fast bullets fly

You're the masters of war

Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
World war can be won
You want me to believe

But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain
And I see through the water
That runs down my drain

You then fasten all the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you sit back and watch
While the death count gets higher

You hide in your mansion
While the young people's blood
Flows out their bodies
And buried in the mud

You're the masters of war
You're the masters of war

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good?
Would buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could?

I think you will find
When death takes its toll
All the money you made
Won't buy back your soul

And I hope that you die
And your death will come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon

And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
I'll stand over your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead

You're the masters of war
You're the masters of war
Masters of war
You're the masters of war

Ummm!, I can answer you question. In 2007 everything Ozzy touched turned to gold. Ozzfest, reuniting Black Sabbath? However, this was totally ignored by the media and music industry. In veiw of that, I actually can't answer your question. You shouldn't have missed it but sadly the music industry started caring more about quanity instead of quality. This was totally ignored. With Ozzy's help, this should have been Mountain's revival. But the money grubbing music industry were not going to allow it. Hell they didn't even like Ozzy. To them he was a relic of the 80's. Thankfully with the help of his wife and others he was able to reinvent himself until they the music industry couldn't ignore him or risk being exposed. Bear in mind, hahaha these are only my opinion, hahaha but I got a feeling I'm pretty goddamn close to the truth. Hahaha Thankfully we have the internet, and YouTube to help us make our own choices instead enduring weather reports and furniture store ads on our F.M. radio stations just to get a glimpse of a song from our past and better days. Hahaha I hope that gives you some, at least , understanding of your question. With that, " hey, Rock on brother!". Hahaha

    R.... T....

He didn't turn anything to gold by reuniting with Black Sabbath. Dio did. Ozzy was second choice.

    R.... T....

    I Don´t Bloody care !

Great cover of one of Dylans' best.

    R.... S....

Good indeed. But Connie Gordon's is breathtaking.

  36. R.... ....

    Just awesome

  37. b.... ....

Ozzy claims in the liner notes of "Under Cover," that the first time he snorted coke was backstage with Leslie West at a gig in Denver in 1971 where Black Sabbath was opening for Mountain.

    b.... ....

Too bad, Leslie paid for his sins, just kidding

    b.... ....

Gawd would that have been a great show. Saw Mountain twice in London. Epic both times.

  38. S.... I....

    AMAZING LYRICS! FUCK the nwo!

  39. n.... a....

i don't smoke, but i feel like i need a cigarette after listening to this. holy. effing. incredible

  40. j.... m....

    great voices of rock roll

  41. V.... M....

Absolutely mind boggling cover of Dylan's Master s Of War. Leslie just sings with such raw power and passion. He does justice to this great song. Was nice to hear Ozzie chime in.

  42. W.... H....

Always dug West ,Bruce, and Lang songs Leslie is one awsome singer with His power rock voice Love mississippi Queen !!

  43. c.... f....

    a very good song

  44. i.... ....

this is one of those songs that just makes the hair on your arm stand up

  45. b.... ....

thank you lord i still have a soul...

  46. T.... C....

    They are amazing together.

    T.... C....

    NO SHIT !!!

  47. d.... ....

Well I wouldnt call Ozzy a pussy, I thought he sounded far better in this cut than he has in YEARS. One of the great hard rock vocalists. But Leslie is right there with him... and simply "in charge" here.

  48. d.... ....

Leslie West is one of those few voices of Rock that could stop Godzilla dead.

  49. s.... ....

Leslie West - still rockin' hard in NJ

  50. d.... ....

Love Alice Cooper, though I'd pick Ozzy myself. Leslie West's voice in my opinion, sits atop the Rock n Roll mountain. The premier hard rock pioneer vocalist. One of the most underrated hard rock/metal (hardcore before heavy metal even had its name) vocalists.

  51. d.... ....

Try Alice Cooper. He put Ozzy to shame.

  52. k.... ....

I do agree with your statement about trying to sell New Ozzy to those of the current generation who have never heard of Sabbath. Take me as an example. I was born in 90 and yet the first Sabbath and Solo Ozzy song I have heard was Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and No More Tears.

  53. d.... ....

This is great because Ozzy knew he could just be the old BAD ASS OZZY with BAD ASS Leslie West. No need to sell a new Ozzy to young morons who never even heard of Black Sabbath. No more dangerous voices in Rock history than Leslie West and Ozzy. This one was clearly for the old days.

  54. d.... ....

Of course I knew it was a Bob Dylan song. All the songs on the album were Bob Dylan songs.

  55. A.... S....

I dearly hope you realize this is originally a folk song by Bob Dylan from his "Freewheelin'" album.

  56. V.... ....

This seems to fit Ozzy's/ Black Sabbath's "War Pigs" like a glove.

  57. V.... ....

Yep, me three... C2C with John B. Wells.... that's were I first heard this hella-wicked song. If you remember... Mr. Wells was interviewing former U.S. intelligence asset Susan Lindauer who talked about how she gave advance warning about the 9/11 attack and became one of the first non-Arab Americans arrested under the Patriot Act.

Creepy!!... but awsome interview though... and a great song.

  58. b.... ....

Leslie, the greatest damn rockin voice ever

  59. W.... ....

Perfect combo of blues and metal, gotta love it.

  60. P.... ....

Awesome and so appropriate for our times.

  61. M.... ....

    Just perfect

  62. .... ....

    @BigNeonGlitterGirl yeah! ツ

  63. d.... ....

One of the greatest hard rock songs. Epic vocals of Leslie West AND Ozzy. And this is the Ozzy of old. Leslie brings out the best in everyone.
