Mountain - Dream Sequence: Guitar Solo / Roll Over Beethoven / Dreams Of Milk And Honey / Variations / Swan Theme Lyrics

[Guitar Solo]

[Roll Over Beethoven]

I'm gonna write a little letter
Gonna mail it to my local DJ.
Rockin' rhythm record
I want my jockey play.
Roll over Beethoven, hear it again today.

Well my temperatures risin'
Jukebox blow a fuse.
My heart beatin' rhythm
My soul keeps singin' the blues.
Roll over Beethoven and tell Tchaikovsky the news.

Roll over Beethoven
Roll over Beethoven
Roll over Beethoven
Roll over Beethoven
Roll over Beethoven, tell Tchaikovsky the news

Whooooh Whooooh Whooooh Whooooh
Roll over Beethoven, tell Tchaikovsky the news

[Dreams Of Milk And Honey]

Sitting in a blue room, staring at the wall
Trying to get into anything at all
Cigarettes taste funny as I sink into my bed
Dreams of milk and honey are running through my head

Look at me, Lord
Listen and see

Look at me, Lord
Listen and see, yeah

Girl, you say you love me but the truth is in your eyes
Your heart for me is empty and your lips are givin' lies
And it seems I'm in a blue room, spending all my time
Trying so to catch you while you're running through my mind

[Variations]

[Swan Theme]

Mountain Dream Sequence: Guitar Solo / Roll Over Beethoven / Dreams Of Milk And Honey / Variations / Swan Theme Comments
  1. M.... L....

Dream Sequence is the best guitar intro of all time. BOOM! I saw Mountain in the Felt Forum in NYC back in the day. My ears are still ringing.

    M.... L....

    Yeah buddy! BOOM!

    M.... L....

Southern Rocker I distinctly remember how Leslie West's guitar looked like a little kid's baby guitar compared to his MASSIVE body. But, that baby guitar was SMOKIN' HOT!

    M.... L....

@Mr. Luigi Yes, he played a Gibson Les Paul Junior. The funny thing is, a Les Paul Junior isn't any smaller than a regular Les Paul, it just has less features and was meant to be a more affordable entry-level model. Leslie was definitely a "mountain" of a man and his guitar always looked like a toy...

    M.... L....

Southern Rocker Great info. Thanks! So good to find other Mountain fans. I feel...hm...Reborn. 🤣

  2. S.... W....

Leslie West taught me guitar. Trailblazer.

  3. R.... C....

music that transfers you to another place !

  4. P.... M....

No one, except maybe and I mean maybe David Gilmour or Brian May has more melodic leads and no one,not evan Gilmou has better bends than leslie West. The best touch ever.I don’t listen to any recent stuff by him.He no longer plays with the left or right hand.It is all over processed and with tremelo barr now,.His playing is way to. ordinary now.But not then, baby!

  5. T.... R....

This is my fave album (oh yes..I ran down and bought a copy when it first came out!) by this great, sometimes under remembered band! As heavy as they were, Felix always had the voice of an angel and I don't think anybody matches Leslie's pure lyricism in his lead lines! They aren't in that bogus R&R HOF? Shocking!

  6. x.... ....

    Always loved Corky Laing's drumming.

  7. m.... ....

wow... just fkn wow.. what a band..

    m.... ....

And they wonder why we smoked so much dope back in the early ‘70s....

  8. R.... C....

Who ever the 6 who hit dislike should seriously fuck themselves. Who are you Justin Beiber and his 5 gay friends? WTF

  9. r.... ....

I loaned this CD to a friend who's younger than me ( I'm 70) who wanted to hear some of the music I listened to... when he returned it, I asked if he liked it- he said " That's some ATOMIC bong music "!!... 'nuff said...

  10. d.... ....

Leslie West - Master of the Volume Knob. When I was a kid, I could never figure out where the violin tone came from - I thought Felix was playing his cello on stage!

  11. C.... D....

    🌼🌻🌼⚘Bravo

  12. j.... ....

I love the sustained note. Wow!

  13. r.... ....

The American Cream. Interesting that Felix Pappalardi was closely connected to both bands. Player in one, producer of the other.

    r.... ....

Of course we won’t mention West, Bruce and Lange’s 3 albums, yes?

  14. S.... T....

meravigliosi dopo 50 anni ancora vi amo

  15. s.... m....

Thanks! There are several good versions of Dreams of Milk and Honey here on YT.

  16. P.... M....

LP Jr. a tree with a microphone...!!

  17. s.... m....

    Definitive. Leslie figured it out.

  18. L.... M....

Another Band The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame shamefully has been neglecting!

    L.... M....

The RARHOF, is a shameful institution, in their zest to be politically correct, they've neglected so many great, great bands they should call themselves RARHall of Shame.

    L.... M....

What do expect from Rolling Stone magazine??
    Really.

    L.... M....

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is a joke.

  19. D.... G....

one of the albums I learned to play bass to. I miss Felix!

  20. l.... t....

Every thing about this is perfect guitar bass drums ,easely the tightest band ever

  21. x.... ....

Les Paul Jr. with a single "dog eared" pickup plugged into Sunn Coliseum P.A. heads.

    x.... ....

Leslie at this Fillmore East closing ceremonies was using 1. Coliseum head, 1. Marshall 50watt plexi. & 1. Fender Twin Reverb.--1. Sunn 4x12 Eminence bottom & 1. Marshall 8x10 slanted bottom. And yes..the 50's L.P. jr.

    x.... ....

Denny Mcfastlane that's the sound of metal

    x.... ....

Timbale Toms. Go's nice with the Cowbell. Don't Forget Leslie's Herco Pick for that Extra Crunchy Attack@Denny Mcfastlane

    x.... ....

And...if Ya' all think you'll need Leslie's Gear setup to play West's chops--Think again, and listen to these guys nail Leslie West's Mountain sound with simple Guitars and Amps!!! Look into their video library also--some cool sTuFF!

  22. H.... B....

Back when Music had Balls, with reverb! And big ass Marshall feedback amps. IMHO the most underrated band of the early 70's

    H.... B....

I believe Mountain was using Sunn amplification.
Hendrix used them for a period of time as many other bands.
By the time of West Bruce and Laing Leslie was using Stramps from West Germany
    A tricked-out Marshall clone.

    H.... B....

Just about everything Leslie had was tricked out, except his Rickenbacher(hope I spelled that right)he said that it was perfect, just the way it was, no need for improvement.

    H.... B....

@TStone Inc Leslie West was using a Les Paul Jr with a single P90 pickup here.

    H.... B....

Supposedly given to him by a very young Waddy Wachtel..

  23. B.... S....

great record, and a great recording of what they sounded like live ...

  24. R.... C....

    Jam band personified

  25. S.... J....

Thanks for posting this.......it's been a favorite of mine since 1971 or 72.........Leslie West is Phenominal, Corky lange is a hard hitting drummer.

"Dream Sequence" never gets old for me. Thanks for uploading it! In case anyone is interested, I recently created "footage" of Mountain playing "Dreams of Milk and Honey" at the Fillmore East on June 27, 1971 (where "Dream Sequence," found on the live side of the "Flowers of Evil" album, was actually recorded). I combined the audio recorded at the Fillmore with the footage shot at the New York Pop Festival on Randall's Island the prior year. Check it out... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thLgCGw_p_0
