Mountain - Blood Of The Sun Lyrics

Standin' on my pillow
Talkin' to the moon
Wadin' in the ocean
I'm sendin' for you soon

Reachin' for the handle
Achin' in my head
Woven in the bedsheets
And then I will understand

Yeah!

Sun comes over the city
Time goes in its hand
Politicians are screamin'
There's a time and a little to spare

Leanin' out of the window
Runnin' from the gun
Caught in webs of invention
It's the blood, it's the blood of the sun

Hidin' in the ocean
With the sunshine at my side
To leave the hard road behind me
There's a light on the road that I ride

Thunder down in the valley
Rainbow 'round the moon
To leave the city behind me
I'm sendin' for you soon
Yeah, I'm sendin' for you soon

Mountain Blood Of The Sun Comments
  1. T.... H....

They won the battle; but sadly, they lost the war in the end.

  2. w.... l....

My lineage is Mayan but when I was a boy I chose the "Best of the Western" 1960s action figures" i chose Geromino over Custer!

  3. B.... M....

"Attacked a village of Indians"..."defeated the intruders"...

The story is a bit more complicated than that, folks. Not all the "Indians" on the scene were "attacked" by Custer. Some were *allies* of the Americans, who themselves had been attacked. Custer's motivations may not have been perfectly saintly, but he was acting in the interest of tribes who had been wronged by those he attacked.

    Still a good tune, though.

  4. E.... ....

    sounds better in 1.25 speed

  5. b.... s....

they did this at Woodstock. The one in '69...the only one.

  6. J.... S....

Invadir o território naquela época foi suicídio total afinal os índios estavam defendendo seu território.souza.abc.brasil.sp.

Blood in all veins.... Mountain even in my whole life... .and forever!

AMEN! - Read "Black Elk Speaks", by John Neihardt

  9. P.... M....

    this is fucking good music
    whos listening 2019

  10. t.... 1....

Sorry but it sounds better on my Woodstock record

  11. s.... ....

he wasn't speedy but West had a searing tone only a few could match in those days

  12. P.... O....

Leslie is just very, very, very good. Some artists decay. Leslie don't.

  13. S.... L....

why isn't the original version on here anywhere?

  14. b.... ....

Song starts at the 30 second mark.

  15. C.... K....

Oh my god! I guess this intro riff may have inspired Blackmore to compose Nobody's Home, from the Perfect Strangers album! OMFG im not buying it!

    C.... K....

And even more so "Lay down stay down".

    C.... K....

bflo1000 that’s what I was gonna say... very similar to both of them.

  16. D.... J....

I can see where deep purple got lay down stay down

    D.... J....

    dingo johnson,
definitely, the guitar riff is almost identical.

  17. T.... G....

The rez your talking about helped custe ever heard of the crow scouts

  18. C.... H....

They should have called Low Dog "bog-eye"

  19. J.... P....

sounds like jack Bruce om bass

    J.... P....

James Perez Felix Pappilardi who also produced Cream played bass

    J.... P....

I thought the same thing James. Both Jack & Felix used old Gibson EB basses with that deep, swamp thick, overdriven, "muddy" tone. Mel Schacher from GFR had a similar tone but different playing style than the other 2.

    J.... P....

bflo1000 Andy Fraser of Free used the same bass and his tone is the same swampy muddy fat tone. The Marshalls helped too.

    J.... P....

Unfortunately the "Mudbass" didn't get much love & still doesn't.

    J.... P....

@Henry Noel Yes, Cream & Free used Marshalls, but Mountain used Sunn amps. Andy didn't have the same overdriven sound as the others....his sound was cleaner. LeslieWest used a 100 watt 4-channel Sunn Coliseum PA head w a master volume. When you linked all the channels together & cranked the volume up to 7 you got a really deep, thick overdrive. That was one of the secrets to his sound.

  20. O.... F....

A bit of unforgettable and harsh history.

If you want to name an enemy of all of us its the Press and the Media... devils!

    B.... E....

No war but the class war no enemy but the ruling class! Find yourself a news source who is NOT ruling class owned and Operated!

    B.... E....

    I agree

    B.... E....

Bad idea. Move on from here rather than dedicate your life to pointless pipe dreams. More importantly, make every effort not to raise your kids to think they're in some war only THEY know about. Give them a chance in life, instead.

    B.... E....

Bernard Elias Lmfao yea right. Sit down

  23. a.... ....

    What a horrible version.

  28. N.... M....

It wasn't the Indians last stand, it was Custers.

    N.... M....

And he was mutilated.......couldn't happen to a nicer guy. lol

    N.... M....

All those who drove the natives out deserve hell for breaking their own commandment. Thou shall not steal.

  29. S.... J....

At 2:13, who is it? Such a powerfull painting. Thanks

  30. D.... C....

Leslie West is one of the greatest guitar players ever... skychurch used one of his songs to promote their feelings about Little Big Horn.

  31. b.... ....

This song is excellent, really heavy.  Love it!  And as for George Custer, he was an arrogant, evil, murderous scumbag.  He got what he deserved.

    b.... ....

    You got that right!

    b.... ....

+beatlesrgear he was a punk ass!

    b.... ....

    Damn right !

  32. S.... ....

@ the greggmcc person, who claims to be a huge Mountain fan...maybe you're really a huge Corky Laing fan? Mountain were better with Corky on drums, no doubt about it, but Twin Peaks is still a brilliant live album. The only real over-indulgence is on Nantucket Sleighride but everything else is decent...the Guitar Solo is great and other highlights for me are Never In My Life, Theme... , and Mississippi Queen

    S.... ....

Mississippi queen is one of my favorite songs by any artist. Just grooves!

    S.... ....

was it Corky or ND Smart on drums for this version?

  33. w.... ....

Hi- I would recommend LESLIE WEST MOUNTAIN ,( his 1st studio album. ) 2-MOUNTAIN , CLIMBING! 3- NANTUCKET SLIEGHRIDE and 4- FLOWERS OF EVIL ( The live side has a great jam) There is a 2 disc compilation, OVER THE TOP that's really good also. I live near NYC and have been lucky to see Leslie live at least 10 times over the past 10 yrs. Talk about HEAVY guitar sound!!

  34. t.... b....

im new to this band. introduced to it by clutch. whats your favorite album and tracks. wiki has this album (mountain 1969) as the best album.

    t.... b....

Check out "Flowers of Evil" side 2 live. It's great. I'm sure you've heard of Miss. Queen.

  35. w.... ....

Even though I am huge MOUNTAIN fan, I am not a fan of this over indulgent double live album. Corky Laing isnt even the drummer for fucks sake! I know the band went through some tough times because of drugs etc , it shows here. When they were in their prime, they were awesome, and are still probably my favorite band.

  36. G.... P....

wow! great version, you can feel the power

  37. M.... ....

    Nice one!

  38. B.... ....

you obviously dont know what youre talking about..

  39. S.... R....

    These comments lol..

  40. R.... ....

Nice Vid, The raping and oppression of Native Americans and their land heart-breaking for me. Nyone who feels there was no injustice done to them is a arrogant soul less piece of $hit.

  41. b.... ....

    check your history, dude.

One of the last great injustices to Native Americans was the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act of 1971. Another is the termination era from the 1940s to the 1960s. Finally, the jury is still out on whether Native women underwent forced sterilization in the 1970s as part of a larger population control campaign or not.

Some of the great injustices against Native Americans occurred 40 to 50 years ago.

  42. L.... J....

Awesome version of the song from the Twin Peaks album. Didn't know it had anything to do with the little bighorn.

    L.... J....

I still can't figure out what the lyrics are about.

  43. L.... F....

Quit whining. A badder, meaner, not to mention more advanced, dog came to town, and won it all in a dogfight. Ask the Etruscans, the Phillistines, Persians, and anyone else who ever got their asses handed to them after a turf war.
    Sour grapes from the losers.

  44. a.... ....

@aztecterrorism You're so full of shit. After that much time and that many generation YOU have nothing to do with any of that and YOU have nothing to be pissed off about. It's called competition and your ancestors lost a battle like every people have at some point. There is always going to be a winner, and if you're gonna waste your time crying about it like you had anything remotely to do with it, then you're way more of a fucking loser than your brave ancestors were

  45. c.... ....

    fucking sick riff! :D

  46. C.... ....

Dear Neophytes: Too bad you can't experience (any more) the BEST ROCK CONCERT EVER...a MOUNTAIN SOUND CHECK !!! (seen 6, 7 or 8, in my time...)

  47. d.... ....

This one is from "Twin Peaks", live album from Japan.

    d.... ....

It's definitely one of the best versions of this song.

  48. c.... ....

always loved the guitar riff in this song.

    c.... ....

Hi man 8 years later hahaha
