Motion City Soundtrack - Lose Control Lyrics

I can get lost for days
I can not stop the waves
Stranded on top of this ugly ocean
Everybody looks the same
Some of us fall in love
Some of us fall apart
Dragging my body in slow motion
Took me back to the start

Woah, woah
It's time to lose control
Woah, woah
It's time to lose control
Woah, woah
It's time to lose control
Woah, woah
It's time to lose control

Say you just want to help
I think you know how I felt
Dammit Jack, give me a magnifier
Let me look for myself
Struggling through the nights
Shuffling through the days
Everyone laughs when your mind is broken
Is it better any other way

Woah, woah
It's time to lose control
Woah, woah
It's time to lose control
Woah, woah
It's time to lose control
Woah, woah
It's time to lose control

I'll get you lost in the waves
Don't think I'll make it today
Just tell me how do you do it
Can you do it?
Yeah

Woah, woah
It's time to lose control
Woah, woah
It's time to lose control
Woah, woah
It's time to lose control
Woah, woah
It's time to lose control

  1. Trey Maggio

Damn it Jack... give me your magnifier, let me look for myself.

  2. Derrick McAdoo

Sounds like he's taking on vocal styles of Bright Eyes and Weezer. Weird.

  3. Alexandra Davis

    Thank you ❤

  4. Thiago Oliveira

    I love this band.

  5. Mike Brown

This video is filmed on the street I ran across throwing water balloons at cars as a kid

  6. Niels Theuns

    really weezer-like! that's a positive though

  7. Noah Zuniga

sounds like new politics also RIP

  8. KnockbackZero

Panic Stations is a fantastic album. But to be honest, I kind of wish that this wasn't the song they showcased.

  9. Adam Clarkson

I've been a fan of MCS since their first album, but I just can't really get a solid feel for the GO album and same for Panic Stations. I loved their first three albums, definitely thought they were getting stronger and stronger with each one, but GO seemed to be a complete turnaround for me. I had high hopes for Panic Stations after I enjoyed the Inside Out single they released a while back, but so far after a good few listens, I just feel the album can't even come close to the first 3. There's not one standout song I could pick out, and it all sounds kinda phoned-in, or just comfortable playing, like the effort has gone.

Maybe I just don't like the way they've moved in the last two albums, but during their first three albums they were becoming more and more solid each time. I had them easily in my top 3 bands back then, but now I'd struggle to put this in my top 10 or even 20.

I just really want to like MCS again, their songs meant so much to me during my late teens and early 20s.

    iamblamb

I totally agree. Their stuff used to feel sporadic and energized, but now he can't seem to be bothered to sing "it's time to lose control" with any kind of frantic or entropic undertone. I got tickets to one of their shows for this final tour and I hope it's mainly old stuff.

    SirColeTheThird

I just saw a show on their last tour, and They only played one song from GO, and one song from Panic Stations. Everything else was old, and of course, fantastic.

    Charles D Coates

i dislike go, but really like panic stations. i think it has some of their tightest songwriting.

  17. Deny Pratama

My favorite song from this album aside from TKO :)
but, is that the same drummer from first MCS? I cannot recognize him because of his hair... :(

    >.>

  18. scott vickery

new sound is a little weird, but I think it'll grow on me. Love the video! cool idea.

  19. Dan April

Anyone else find it strange that this is the slowest, most measured song on the album? I had high hopes for a song called "Lose Control." Hoping for something more intense from MCC, this does not suit my tastes at all.

  20. Farisan Hartas

6n tahun uda ngga keluarin album , meledak epipath

  21. Poppy Max

    Emily the queen!!

  22. IAmADragonXD

I love this song and the video but I feel this would have been even better if it went along with the song "The Days Will Roll Away" somehow

  23. Ben Carlson

    So.............. Minnesotan

  24. ChiliDUDE27

I think it's kinda funny. "Do I really have the power to kill stuff by touching? Let me go test it on my neighbor."

"Struggling through the nights, shuffling through the days. Everyone laughs when your mind is broken, is it better any other way?" Justin always knows just what to say :-) Love this band and album - great Power Pop. Song definitely has a 90s/Weezer vibe. Grew up on 80s and 90s rock and pop, so I'm probably a little older (39 - birthday is today!) than most of their fans, but age shouldn't matter - good music is good music. Panic Stations was such an awesome b-day present - thanks guys!!! :-) Actually, not only am I about Justin Pierre's age, but my name is Justin, too. Cool beans lol

  27. Maria Jasso

    i love justin's hair!!!

  28. Perry Kettler

Sounds like Weezer. I dig this band.

  29. Compton182

    Catchy as hell

  30. Joshua Loreto

Damn Tony Thaxton isn't their drummer anymore? :( Damn. Hope to see him in future projects.

  31. Nikie Frey

Damnit, Jack. This is fucking brilliant.

  32. Fancy Pleb

I did not enjoy this visually nor musically. I felt rather uncomfortable the whole time watching.

  33. KayleighMorganMusic

What the hell to this video haha

  34. flanders7741

BEVERLY HILLS THAT'S WHERE YOU WANT TO BE!

  35. adrian .Sandez

Lol came across this randomly and only thing that comes too mind is wow they sure did make a lovely 90's track...

  36. Conor White

I see them golden greyhams at the start ;)

  37. burt backarat

WTF is this like a bunch of 40 year old guys singing alternative.........

    Turnoverts

40 year olds that have done more with your life than you EVER will...

    Camilo

+burt backarat go listen 5 seconds of summer you piece of shit

    Cherie Jamison

+burt backarat Yeah... it's pretty crazy right? This is their 6th studio album and they were probably in their 20s when they started.. But they should have just stopped when they hit 35 right? No way that mature people could churn out decent music.. I mean what the fuck are the Foo Fighters doing still trying? Go home old people!

  38. Francisco Blas Chapa

what a good song, just keep the cool style and the feel within. I'm really excited for the new álbum.
    #waitingforacomeback
    goodluck guys :D

    Greensheep

    Don't Call it a Comeback!

    Francisco Blas Chapa

i mean, they have not been in high activity

    Greensheep

Yeah I know haha. I was just referencing a past song.

    Context Sickness

+Francisco Blas Chapa Don't call it a comeback!

    ChiliDUDE27

+Francisco Blas Chapa Thing about MCS is that they tour relentlessly. The Commit This To Memory Tenth Anniversary tour and playing at the warped tour while working on this, too. I'd say they're just as good as ever.

  39. Kurtis Roy

This has GOT to be a troll.  This song sounds like a rejected Weezer B side song.  Motion City is an amazing band and have put out a lot of great music, but this song is lazy, emotionless, and vanilla. :(

    Context Sickness

+Kurtis Roy Kinda sad, but I have to agree. To me, they're the band that created "Throw Down," "Everything Is Alright," "My Favorite Accident," "Antonia," and countless other great songs... Tony had a lot of skill and energy, and I think he contributed a lot to their sound as a drummer. It's kinda like how I lost what little interest I had in the Smashing Pumpkins just went away when Jimmy left, although I hope that isn't the case for MCS. I liked their last album, although it was different, and I'm hoping the new drummer will add something interesting to the band; I sincerely hope they grow as a band even more, but considering how their last few singles sounded like, they're going head-first in the wrong direction if you ask me...

  40. Song Bird

Sounds a lot like Weezer. What happened to the singer's voice though? He sounds so bored now.

    Official Wolves In Argyle

+BeansAndStringsMusic weezer fan huh? YES.... check us out :0 cheers

    sierrathings

Idk if you mean the pitch or the tone. If you mean, the latter it's a stylistic choice. As for the pitch, singing falsetto really messes with your voice over time.

  41. sergeymon

The frontman looks like Mike Myers and David Dohovney's love child.

  42. Daniel Kucharski

wow so much like early weezer

  43. MatthewOceanXVX

I feel like Justin Pierre doesn't age.

    Eunsong

+MatthewOceanXVX he's a mad scientist he created a youth formula long ago

    Alvaro Lozano

+Kong Moua (Dkong100) His method is to get fucked up and die. He gets regenerated and repeats.

    Tyler van Horn

It's because he sold his xbox to Jimmy down the street and even quit smoking weed. If you guys like MCS I think you'd like my band also. We're an American acoustic pop punk duo. To listen, search into YouTube...

    Don't like it that much...

But the Video had a great ending :-)

  49. PicaRock

Motion City Soundtrack - "Lose Control

  50. Dereck Gutierrez

I dig it! I mean, I already loved the song. But the concept of Justin's killing-touch & the girl's reversal of his destruction is badass. Great video!!

  51. Whitsoxrule1

Lol that was a cute ending

  52. Going Spaceward

    I love this so much!

  53. The Chillywhip

You are amazing man! Keep on making the jams!

  54. Caleb Hyles

Hmmm, I really dig the song, but the music video feels kind of "phoned in" if you ask me. Some cools ideas throughout and I love the set pieces :) I just feel like, this is the world being introduced to "Panic Stations"!! Aside from the music, this is our first taste of the new album. I feel like you'd want to come out of the gate with something spectacular, or, at the very least, truly represents what the album is going to "feel" like. I'm still pumped about the album, but this video is just not doing it for me.

    Sean Tomaszewski

Yea, with such a short song, it would have been cool with some cinematic at the beginning before the song. Although, to be honest this is pretty much in line with MCS's prerogative with most of their videos. A simple story within cool scenes with cuts to the band performing in a weird room. Plus there's a cool story to this video that I enjoyed.

You have to remember too, that budgeting was also a limiting thing here.

I agree with you that the vid didn't blow me away, but I didn't even know they had new music coming, so I'm happy regardless :)

  55. johnthegawd

    mehh :/
