I still cant fucking believe Andy is gone...I never had the blessing of meeting Andy but I knew my sweet, sweet buddy Layne (Staley) for a few brief precious years..he was the one who really pushed me into singing as a more than a "hobby"..we once sang a duet in a run down freezing frickin studio that was more of shed (understand this was dude who was already crazy famous) at Ft. lewis, WA..he drove (or was driven by Mike Starr another angel of a man) all the way from there place in outside of Seattle because I was being a pertstering homer about some dumb ass terrible lyrics I had written to a even more terrible melody...Layne dropped this on me..most if not all on this thread will recognize Kansas's beautiful song..

when we went over it and then sang together..it came out incredible because of crazy way of Layne talent and simply and naturally being able to harmonize and take a song and rephrase guitar licks, riffs and just make it "fit"..but he had mentioned in passing "this song I swear Luc was written for my friend Andy"....at the time I had no idea who he was taking about because I wasn't really into the Seattle grunge sound as yet because of my SoCal neo-classical rock back ground and was LAME in understanding that all genres besides the ones I liked were cool....but I swear Layne had a tear in his eye..he even said to me "Luc, you know your name ( Luciano) means Lucifer right man, but that's cool because that means your an angel bro...ha ha ha..and maybe one day ill be angelic to"...Bro, we are all Wayward Sons (and Daughters)but you were and ARE an angel man and now you Andy, Kurt, Mikey, Chris and Scott are all singing in HEAVEN

Andrew Wood / Mother Love Bone.. Changed the face of Music more than people will ever know.
It was the perfect Love and Music that Andrew Wood Poured out with his Soul that created something so new and diverse compared to Anything at the time. It was a perfect storm at the perfect time. Sadly weeks after one of music's largest bidding wars, Andrew Wood died of a Heroin overdose that turned out to be from Heroin released to the streets of Seattle from Seattle Police going all the way to the chief..
In anycase Mother Love Bone took a new singer and name for obvious reasons to those who know M.L.B.... And thus the creation of Pearl Jam....
Chris Cornell of Sound Garden.. was Andrew best friend thus Temple of the Dog... Say Hello to Heaven .. etc..
Alice in Chains were apart of the Brotherhood as well.. and this is just a basic sad attempt at giving a little back story.
Mother Love Bone is Truly one of the most beautiful bands to grace our broken little planet.. I am True Metal Head... and Love M.L.B.. as much as any of my Metal Bands...

Andy and I actually didn't live too far from each other. He grew up in Columbus, Mississippi and I grew up in Greenville, Mississippi, so both of us are SOUTHERN children!!! I personally think that Mother Love Bone was more like a hardrock band, rather than grunge. I mean if they was grunge, we can also call a band like Drivin N Cryin grunge

Seattle was magical from the late 80s with bands like the melvins, soundgarden, MLB, Nirvana, SUNY Day Realestate, Blew Illusion...playing the off ramp, red roof and other places we all had. About the same time Kurt passed and karaoke took over was a tuff time for most musicians here.....still is 👈
