Morphine - Test-Tube Baby / Shoot'm Down Lyrics

I'm just a test-tube baby
I'm just a test-tube baby
I start out clean each day
I start out fresh and clean
I start out clean each day
I'm just a test-tube baby

I have a pinch of this
I have a taste of that
I have a glass of this
I have a jug of that
I have a bag of this
I have a box of that
I start out clean each day
I start out fresh and clean
I start out clean each day
I'm just a test-tube baby

Shoot a crack smoker down
Shoot a crack dealer down
Shoot'm down
Shoot'm down
Shoot'm down
Shoot'm down

Shoot a crack smoker down
Shoot a beer drinker down
Shoot a beer drinker down
Shoot a pot smoker down
Shoot a bartender down
Shoot'm down
Shoot'm down
Shoot'm down
Shoot'm down

Hey, shoot Colombia down
Shoot Mexico down
Shoot Panama down
Shoot El Salvador down
Shoot'm down
Shoot'm down
Shoot'm down
Shoot'm down
Shoot'm down
Shoot'm down
Shoot'm down
Shoot'm down
Shoot'm down
Shoot'm down

Morphine Test-Tube Baby / Shoot'm Down Comments
  1. D.... S....

Weird to see comments about being conceived in a test tube. I always thought this is a song about the various drugs Sandman was into. Maybe even a bit of struggle as he starts every morning "fresh and clean" but as the day goes by, it all goes to s**t.

  2. Q.... ....

I sort of see what sandman was trying to show his parents, the world, and anyone who gave a damn, about his dreams, what he'd done, and who he'd become.

  3. M.... H....

Thank you SO much for putting these songs on here I haven't listened to this band in AGES

  4. S.... ....

I'm sure we can all relate to this. Both parts of the medley, that is.

    S.... ....

    explain yourself?

  5. M.... P....

well i think the singers lyric 'I wake up fresh and clean each day' is referring to being conceived outside the womb, perhaps removed from inherited original sin

  6. E.... L....

A "stream",...think of a stream or the flowing of one. Then, think of "consciousness", which will allow you to FEEL or "know" what you're thinking. Or,...do you know what "unconsious" means. The, opposite,...obviously of "consciousness.

  7. R.... E....

As a Test-tube American, I am deeply offended by this song, but I'll dry up if I wander out to make angry phone calls about it. It's so comfortable in here.

  8. R.... R....

the good always seem to die far too young

  9. R.... R....

i'd like to know if you can explain to me what you mean by,"stream of consciousness", I would appreciate it if you can explain this,

I used to see these guys at the Plough&Stars in Cambridge, MA 'arounfd 1990-1. They'd appear as the Hypnosonics (five man band methinks?) and do this wild "stream of consciousness" stuff that was incredible. Most of the Morphine stuff came from that bizarre blues incubator.
