Moody Blues, The - Veteran Cosmic Rocker Lyrics
The lights go down
The stage is set
The man in the wings breaks out in sweat
A backstage joker spiked his coke
While the dressing room was full of smoke
He's afraid he's gonna die
He's the apple of their eye
He steps into the remaining light
The crowd go wild
He's outa sight
Arms held high in the sign of peace
His manager signed the one night lease
The house is full getting high
He's afraid he's gonna die
(He struts, he strolls)
(His love is rock 'n' roll)
He's the VETERAN COSMIC ROCKER
He steps into the remaining light
The crowd go wild
Arms held high in the sign of peace
His manager signed the one night lease
The house is full getting high
He's the apple of their eye
(He struts, he strolls)
(His life is rock 'n' roll)
He's the VETERAN COSMIC ROCKER
He's afraid that he will die

Moody Blues, The Veteran Cosmic Rocker Comments
I wonder if anyone can decipher what he says at 3:11
My best guess: Listen to the fast-spoken "bridge" between the end of Reflective Smile and the beginning of Veteran Cosmic Rocker. That's Ray speaking as well at the end of this track, which could've been an alternate take they left on the master.
If you're talking about what I think you are, my best guess was 'look at that, he's got a clown face and all that'. But cannot be sure.....
RIP Veteran Cosmic Rocker, Ray Thomas. May your Sojourn on Eternity Road be filled with peace and joy.
Ray Thomas, composer/lead vocals/harmonica. With Painted Smile & Reflective Smile, a rare three-in-a-row from Ray. Written in response to a review that referred to the Moodies as "veteran cosmic rockers."
Wow. Neat!!
Fantastic group I have always been a big fan of the moody blues there music has always sounded way ahead of its time especially the early stuff
One of the best MB albums.
After Octave they needed one. And nailed it with this one.
Zero dislikes.
That is as it _should_ be.
I love The Moody Blues.
Perhaps in response, now there's one dislike.
