Moody Blues, The - Blue World Lyrics

Heart and soul took control
Took control of me
Paid my dues spread the news
Hands across the sea
Put me down turned me round
Turned me round to see
Marble halls open doors
Someone found the key
And it's only what you do
That keeps coming back on you
And it's only what you say
That can give yourself away

Underground sight and sound
human Symphony
Heard the voice had no choice
needed to be free
Fly me high touch the sky
Left the earth below
Heard the line saw the sign
Knew which way to go
Cos it's easier to try
Than to prove it can't be done
And it's easier to stay
Than to turn around and run

It's a blue world
It takes somebody to help somebody
Oh it's a blue world
It's a new world
It needs somebody to love somebody
Oh it's a blue world

Heart and soul took control
Took control of me
Paid my dues spread the news
Hands across the sea
Put me down turned me round
Turned me round to see
Marble halls open doors
Someone found the key
And it's only what you do
That keeps coming back on you
And it's only what you say
That can give yourself away
Cos it's easier to try
Than to prove it can't be done
And it's easier to stay
Than to turn around and run

It's a blue world
It takes somebody to help somebody
Oh it's a blue world
It's a new world
It needs somebody to love somebody
Oh it's a blue world
It's a blue world
It takes somebody to help somebody
Oh it's a blue world
It's a new world
It needs somebody to love somebody
Oh it's a blue world

Moody Blues, The Blue World Comments
  1. Edward Creter

Blue World: the new love theme to James Cameron's Avatar! What ya think?

  2. jimmy fortrue

Sometimes I listen to this song and concentrate just on the bass... Other times just the lead guitar.... Ahh.. that lead guitar is so perfect.
Saw them on the long distance voyager concert tour all those years ago... Crazy concert... Not the mellow chilled out crowd I expected...
I never found out the cause but the cops were frisking people again when we were leaving.. Took over an hour and a half to exit the Hartford collisseum. Packed in the hallways like sardines for that time.

  3. lurch321

Dunno why this album was such a flop at the time--and it came right after Long Distance Voyager (which hit #1)!  It's just as good as its predecessor, far as I'm concerned!  Maybe it wasn't promoted enough--that's a big factor, normally.

  4. Jeanne Marie

    Amazing song

  5. Paul Baransky

They should release this song and lost in a lost world as a single. They both describe the current state of the world. Just a thought.

  6. luis marcelo inostroza bidart

    With Patrick Moraz on keyboards....

  7. Ivan Alvarado

A masterpiece from the start to the end, but the intro is simply amazing

  8. David Nicoll

The song that introduced me to the Moodies!

  9. Brian Blommer

A vastly underrated album. The concept is as strong as all their early album concepts. Superb recording, mixing, and musicianship. This is the album that best utilized Patrick Moraz's gifts. Sounds as good as the first time I heard it.

  10. Dennis Jones

I went to see them in concert just once but have been a lifelong fan. They were awesome and in my mind amongst the top four groups to see along with Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd and Aussie Pink Floyd tribute.

  11. Dennis Jones

Best song ever made.......by a country mile!

  12. James Pollock

I was 12 years old in 1983 my two favorite bands then where Moody blues & Alan Parsons project still sound great at 47 years

Have seen The Moody Blues live in concert three-four times in Toronto, and each time I had a blast! I was very saddened upon hearing the sad news of Ray Thomas's passing. Long live the Moodies and their great music!

    SÜPER....

  47. Steve Kelly

    Classic Moodies.

  48. Ron Cromer

As a Baby Boomer who's decade of music & lyrics were the 60's, I must confess that The Moody Blues saved the 80's with a few songs, none of which were better than Blue World. Long live The Moody Blues.

  49. Ron Cromer

Next to Sympathy For The Devil (Stones) and Silly Love Songs (McCartney), the best bass line ever.

  50. Paul F Brown

This beautiful song reveals, or "blows the whistle" on the guy who did find the key and holds it in heart.. Follow him to The Jubilee. A seventh dimension site introduces All God's children to the next level paradigm for humanity, yes, a cosmic paradigm. Follow the piper. Amen. Peace and love. "P"

  51. Doobie1975

great song, I think this should have charted higher than "Sitting At The Wheel", I thought this was the superior song to "Sitting"

    Baz Bazdad

I agree Doob', BUT, chart placings rarely equate to quality. The BBC Poll to see the 'Greatest UK Crime' of 'Held @ No.2 Spot', given to "Vienna", by "Ultravox", 1981 (beaten by 'Shaddup You Face' - Joe Dolce).
Oceanic wide talent & chasm between them, that's injustice, right there....
    (Listen to both, for proof)

  52. bloofan06

I love this video! The pictures are wonderful and the lyrics are perfect! As for the song.... It's amazing of course! =) Awesome job!

  53. Bruce Redmond

  54. chris rainbow

    great vid thanks

  55. 1buck1doe1fawn

Great video, brings back a lot of memories. Mercie

  56. Kathleen Waterbury

Thank you for an excellent video with the lyrics. Always been a Moody Blues fan since they came out. Heard this while walking and it was at the perfect time.

    Baz Bazdad

Kath, like you, I heard this involuntarily, whilst I was painting the bedroom wall in my 'newly-married' masionette - I stopped painting, as it just blew me away with it's haunting & enchanted melody & restraint. It is still to this day, one of the greatest tracks I've EVER heard.... & that over the course of half-a-century of listening to ALL 'the greats' of modern music.
(I was raised on Mott, Bad Co. plus various Prog' & Metal bands).

Gotta say "Thanks to Radio Caroline for playing it, that day in '83"
(otherwise, I may never have heard of it !!!!!!!!)

  57. Ron Cromer

The song is one of the best, ever, from any decade in contemporary popular music. The presentation is equally as enjoyable which makes this a VID to bookmark! Thank you for your time & effort .........................

  58. Robert Darling

Still another great song by the Moodys.
