Moody Blues, The - All That Is Real Is You Lyrics

All the world over I've searched for a dream
I've found out that life is not what it seems
I've seen all the wonders the world has to give
But all that is real is you.

All of the silver and all of the gold
Seems worthless to me
Lifeless and cold
I've known all the treasure
A man can possess
But all that is real is you.

So bring me back home
My love - my love
Oh how I need you
Take me back home
My love - my love
Oh how I love you.

Even the place where my heart used to fly
The warm summer breeze
The wild seabirds cry
All are illusions and all just a dream
'Cos all that is real is you.

So bring me back home
My love - my love
Oh how I need you
Take me back home
My love - my love
Oh how I love you.

All the world over I've searched for a dream
I've found out that life is not what it seems
I've seen all the wonders the world has to give
But all that is real is you

'Cos all that is real is you.

First time i do hear this song. Forgot that "Strange Times" and "December" are the two only Moody Blues studio albums i do not have. Will give it a chance.

  2. M.... S....

This is a song about someone of this earth. Not heaven.

  3. j.... ....

John Lodge has been a born again Christian for over 30 years, and it’s not surprising that some of his compositions would be so influenced...

    j.... ....

    This one is Justin's though...

  4. C.... E....

    Love this whole album!

  5. S.... ....

"It is not those who can inflict the most, but those that can suffer the most who will conquer."

I've been an MB fan since the 60's, but I've always felt Strange Times showed the group as a spent force creatively. I listened to it once and threw it away, grabbing To Our Children's Children's Children as an aural salve.

    G.... D....

People age and run out of steam creatively. They have been creating music since 1964. Throwing away music? It's simply a stage in their life and has very good insights of living long, loving, enjoying life and acknowledging life goes on. You can listen to any album any time.

    G.... D....

Something puzzling yet transforming about The Moody Blues, is that if at first I don’t recognize or resonate to a song, or feel disappointed... later I find myself cherishing it - - Sometimes weeping while listening.

    G.... D....

@gardeniabeeHi - I know exactly what you mean - you sum up my Moody Blues music experience precisely. I am uplifted by many of their songs yet simultaneously saddened for some reason. Why? It can't just be the memories.....

  8. i.... ....

I am curious, what is your take on this song? What do you think he is singing about , I know what I think but would love to hear others tell me their opinion

    i.... ....

irene SourceBeing. Or Non-Being Essentiality, as my Guru says. 😇

    i.... ....

    irene God. I think.

    i.... ....

There can be only one answer to this, this beautiful song is sung in gratitude to the creator of all life - GOD . 🙂

  9. i.... ....

what a great song, I love it and the video is perfect thank you so much for this,

  10. M.... ....

wow ..... the biggest treasure is....self. Love. Life. Things are just ... things. It sure hurts.... to not share that love...and life...with someone....to the end.

  11. P.... R....

SO TRUE....................SCARY THOUGHT BUT SO TRUE....

  12. G.... H....

all that is real is you!

  13. T.... W....

This song somehow reminds me of Lonnie Donnegan , who produced                                      some of their music early on !

    T.... W....

+The Wizard of Rock and Roll Lonnie was a blood sucker and stole Justin's rights to many of his songs. His family remains in the same blood sucking mold.

  14. R.... ....

    It´s a pleasure. Best wishes.

  15. D.... B....

  16. M.... B....

  17. L.... H....

I Love this song! I think of my creator when I hear it.

    L.... H....

Lynda Howard Justin Hayward is a Christian. He wrote this song for God.

  18. s.... ....

    Beautiful song.
I thought of God when I heard it.

  19. T.... S....

The portrait....did we lose Grahm Edge? His "Celtic Sonant" was so inspiration for me, as a writer: "He failed to remember there was a price on his head". My favorite song from this album is "Wherever You Are". It drags tears out my eyes nearly every time. and thank you, red baron; I'm still getting u.tube updates from our common interest. and they Should get inducted soon, don'tyathink?

  20. K.... D....

Beautiful, nothing less ever, I have a Beautiful daughter too. Thank you. I love you, Peace. & peaceful.

  21. T.... ....

@JohnMan59 Yeah, I thought it came from left field myself...for me the music is clearly a love-song, but its interesting how different people, with very different life-experiences and world views, can interpret it differently, yet still value the music. For "Jesusgirl" apparently, the "Y" would need to be capitalized, because to her "All that is real is You", is a reference to God. I'm not sure thats what the Moody Blues had in mind, but as long as she appreciates them, right?

  22. J.... V....

@TheBloodPhoenix Thought as much. I simply must protest any context that brings Jesus into the discussion. I fully understand all meanings of intercourse....including the town in PA. Just thought the general message was not germane to the Moodies.
    AT ALL.

  23. T.... ....

@JohnMan59 John, pretty sure she didn't mean in that sense! LOL
This word has "gone out of style", except for sex, but once meant-
1- connection or dealings between persons or groups
2- exchange esp. of thoughts or feelings: communion
Jesusgirl maybe still uses the word in its archaic sense, though thats uncommon.
Americans today know what "Alas" & "Thou" mean, but don't use them in conversation!
This type of error is commonly made by people for whom English is a 2nd language.

  24. J.... V....

@27Jesusgirl You so did NOT just say "...constant intercourse with Jesus" did you? That is just so wrong
and un-Christian of you. And isn't this about the Moody Blues? I think you watched the WRONG video.
Go Moodies....next stop, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

  25. 2.... ....

Such is the language of the believer panting after present fellowship with Jesus, he is sick for his Lord. Gracious souls are never perfectly at ease except they are in a state of nearness to Christ; for when they are away from Him they lose their peace. The nearer to Him, the nearer to the perfect calm of heaven; the nearer to Him, the fuller the heart is, not only of peace, but of life, and vigour, and joy, for these all depend on constant intercourse with Jesus

  26. c.... ....

They have been so much a part of our lives for...all of our lives. Words can't even express it, but we still try. Thank you so much for being here, Moodies:)

  27. M.... C....
