Monuments - Saga City Lyrics

Sitting on answers
That time makes it's crown
And divides ourselves into questions
Do you remember that all life at the bottom of the well
In the city where all is one with all?
Reminding us both that we chose to make this place our vessel
Our deliverance

We're falling deep
Bound to each other somewhere
Calling out until the end of time
Break out the silence
Hold it close until it throws me

So far away
The living memory
Forgot of yesterday
The part of me that wouldn't die or let the story lose its way
I don't know where you stand
But I will bring this plan into a higher place
Too soullessly I dedicated my love for Saga City

But then they came down
And corrupted inside
Brothers with throats cut knives cross the street
And takes down the thundering herd
With violence with them moving like thieves in the night

Thrive!
I wouldn't kneel before you
I wouldn't call you king
With gall I'll take my leave
And set the stage for your death
I'll set the stage for your death
And escape with the tomb

We're falling deep
Bound to each other somewhere
Calling out until the end of time
Break down the silence
The chase these walls were greater fearing

So far away
The living memory
Forgot of yesterday
The part of me that wouldn't die or let the story lose its way
I don't know where you stand
But I will bring this plan into a higher place
Too soullessly I dedicated my love for Saga City

You love this bowl of sin and treachery
So just tell me this
Who the fuck do you think you really are? (Yeah!)
Who the fuck do you think you really are, Father?

    Broke my neck!

Love this way more than any song off of M3
    Sorry not sorry

  4. a.... ....

    The chorus doesn't look right.

So far away the living memories burn on yesterday. The part of me that wouldn't ever let the story lose it's way, yeah. I don't know where you stand but I will bring this plan into a higher place. To service me a dedicated man will fall saga city.

    And the verse.
...knifes caused this pain with blood and violence, we keep moving like thieves in the night. Thieves. I would not kneel before you, I would not call you king. With that I'll take my leave, and set the stage for your death.

    And the ending.
    We'll break clouds.

It would be nice if the band would just post the lyrics. I asked John Browne for the lyrics in a QA live stream and he said they're on Facebook. Definitely not there.

Cheers man, will update with your contribution

    @ΞMPYRΞΛN thanks!

  5. s.... g....

I think the end of the chorus may be “I dedicated my love for saga city”

  6. S.... M....

Why they have so less views.. Share guys and put them in front.. New album will be release soon within this month, lyrical video are available.. don't forget to listen mirror images.. Retro feeling..

  7. R.... H....

I revisit this masterpiece of a song on the back of the 2 rather underwhelming M3 singles. Please don't lose this touch, lads

  8. S.... ....

The Bose QC35 II redditor brought me here

  9. J.... S....

Tome not tomb. It's about an ancient tome hidden in a well deep beneath Saga City.

  10. D.... f....

I believe he says, "all is one with woe." Anybody else think that?

    D.... f....

Didja feelit? I always thought it was “all is one with hope”

  11. T.... ....

    Tremendous

+Empyrean Flaw After listening to this song many times, as well as its various live performances here on YouTube, I’m gonna say that it’s “Do you remember that *old* life...” and “Where all is one, *we flow...*”
Of course, I could be wrong.

I’ve been trying to wrap my head around the lyrics of The Amanuensis and their meaning for some time, but I’ve reached the conclusion that, without an official explanation from Chris Barretto himself, it’s impossible. Even by piecing together the small bits of information from the various interviews with him, the story is still too vague and hard to figure out without making stuff up.

  13. H.... ....

The lyrics...this basically screams for a Hollow Knight music video

  14. S.... T....

This album is 15 years ahead of its time. Too bad people arent looking to the future.. this music is the future.

    S.... T....

Well said my good man. Well said. I feel like we'd be friends just with that statement haha

  15. C.... H....

This song is top 3 for the greatest pieces of music to have emerged out of the total modern prog/djent metal scene (of bands such as periphery, animals as leaders, tesseract, after the burial, born of osiris, etc.) What really makes it so is that the vocals are just perfect. God damn,.,, can't fucking wait for M3.

    C.... H....

I'd be interested to see your other top two.
    Mine would be:
    I, The Destroyer (Monuments)
    Of Mind - Nocturne (TesseracT)
The Woven Web (Animals As Leaders) ... as much as I'd like to pick Physical Education I feel like The Woven Web is incredibly underrated by comparison.

  16. T.... A....

Best song in the mothafucking album. Love these guys!

    T.... A....

    Easily best song.

  17. .... ....

Now we have lyrics both in closed captions and in video description!

Since the official lyrics aren't published, these are contributions from fans around the internet. I mixed and matched the lyrics to make most sense, but if you have any suggestions or corrections, please leave a comment!

    .... ....

I think 'where all is one with all' is the more probable line. Since it's the question: "Do you remember that whole life (...) in the city, where all is one with all?"

And considering the lyrics tell a story about a place with a strong sense of unity, that got eventually corrupted, I think 'all is one with all' fits more in that context too.

    .... ....

You can hear "Where all is one, with flow" or at least I do. Which also works, implying a perfect city.

    .... ....

    "Escape with the Tome"

    .... ....

    Break DOWN the silence*

    .... ....

Thank you for this! Got a sub

  18. T.... S....

I love this album.. but this seriously reminds me of a metal Michael Bolton

  19. K.... B....

    Dope song, dude.

  20. E.... X....

    AMAZING PIECE ♥

  21. R.... H....

I can't be the only one who thinks this would sound sick deconstructed. Acapella or something

    R.... H....

I imagine quite a few monuments song played by Mike Dawes, think that it would be amazing in his style.

    R.... H....

+Fernando dude what a fantastic idea!!! mike dawes would do such a perfect job of illustrating the songs complexity while doing it tons of justice!! ... love that dude.

  22. D.... K....

Is it me or did they sample/steal the main riff from Viceroy by Cloudkicker??????

    D.... K....

+Dennis Kioko I can for sure see what you mean, it is really damn close. Maybe they were inspired by Cloudkicker, which is likely because all of his music is incredible.

    D.... K....

+Dennis Kioko I kept expecting it to go the same way as Viceroy

    D.... K....

    Interesting

    D.... K....

+Dennis Kioko From what I've heard of Browne's writing (he did most of the writing on The Amanuensis) he rarely, if ever, straight up copies or does something similar sounding to anyone else. I think it might just genuinely be coincidence, or maybe inspiration.

We'll never know, but both songs sound vastly different in their own right, so it doesn't fuss me at all.

    D.... K....

+flagmuffin1221 agreed. this band is pretty legit.

  23. M.... H....

    This artwork is fucking beautiful

  24. R.... C....

    I just came at 2:18 :)

    Ross Cocker I

    R.... C....

I've always loved that part. Malyan was hitting the kick SO fucking hard.

  25. A.... C....

    Awesome

  26. N.... ....

Couldn't agree more! Badass band, only 2000 views?? Degradation of society...

  27. J.... ....

anyone got the lyrics? only 2000 views.. that's sad.. this is the shit!

    J.... ....

    @JRock2012

*Calling out until the end of time

    @borthelcash '

    *The part I lost today

    J.... ....

+borthelcash ' Dude, thanks! I've been looking for the lyrics for this song (along with a few others) and I can't seem to find any of them anywhere. You wouldn't happen to have the lyrics for Horcrux, Quasimodo, or Jinn would you?

    J.... ....

so far away: the living memory; the blood of yesterday (maybe?)
the part of me that wouldn't die or let the story lose its way (kinda sure of this)

the part where you put moving my things in the night is much more likely to be 'moving like thieves in the night' lol
