Monuments - Jinn Lyrics
A devil sent me your gift as it was taking up
Your face from the deck
Coalescing into wisps from the void
Where you'll spread your words in time
All the heads in the middle of the circle
A drop cuts the eye of sleep
Wanting to know my name
I am nothing but the way down
I could not ever rest my sorrows
All these secrets will unravel
To become greater than the factions
That he murdered and so stole
Oh!
Now there is a point
Fighting to resist the hand I'm played
If you have to speak this way
If you have to speak this way
If you have to speak this way you forfeit your right
To leave this place
(A vicious cycle holding on)
To leave this place
(And you regain the cycle whole)
We leave this place
(Cause we know, we know)
We leave this place
We know where we're going all the better
Now make us the same!
Taking over
Taken over
Make us the same
Taken over
Fake out in the end
For nothing must end
But the way down
I could not ever rest my sorrows
All these secrets will unravel
To become greater than the factions
That he murdered and so stole
(The silence speaks)
All these secrets come undone
Taking me over, over!
(The silence speaks)

This Band is Sooo Sick!
Favorite song off the album.
There's an EPIC cover of this song by.Helvetion. A hurdy gurdy cover. I recommend you guys watch her go crazy on it. Such skill o.O
That's how I got here.
You can watch that grabage if you want I guess.
I knew this band by the video. She mixed the sounds perfectly, and it shows you how great she is with the hurdy gurdy.
Fave song at the mo!
still waiting for the lyrics.
this is literally probably top 3 of the most badass songs ive ever heard, for real. you can include whole albums from all sorts of bands from nu, death and obviously progressive.

gave working out all the lyrics a shot:
A devil sent me your gift as it was taking up
your face from the deck
coalescing into wisps from the void
where you’ll spread your words in time
all the heads in the middle of the circle
take an unfamiliar fate
a drone cuts the eye in sleep
wanting to know my name
i am nothing but a letdown
i could not ever rest my sorrows
all these secrets will unravel
to become greater than the fractions
that he murdered and so stole oh
now there is a point
insight disguised within myself
fighting to resist the hand i’m played
if you have to speak this way
if you have to speak this way
if you have to speak this way you forfeit your right
to leave this place
a vicious cycle holding on
to leave this place
and you regain the cycle whole
we leave this place
cos we know, we know
we leave this place
we know where we’re going all the better
now make us the same!
taken over
taken over
make us the same
taken over
fake out in the end nothing must end
but the way down
i could not ever rest my sorrows
all these secrets will unravel
to become greater than the fractions
that he murdered and so stole
the silence speaks
all these secrets come undone
taking me over, over!
all these secrets come undone
I still hear "Thank God, in the end, nothing was saved" instead of "Fake out in the end for nothing must end".
Wow yeah it does sound like that. Definitely the 'thank god in the end' bit. I'm pretty sure half of what I put isn't right considering it doesn't make much sense :D
Yeah the mixing on the album was good at times but here Chris' vocals get kind of mushed sometimes to the th- and ff- sounds are a little ambiguous. But "Thank God in the end Nothing was saved" rhymes so it could work better.
B T Yeah, that sounds more like it to me. The lyrics posted above are correct in many places but in others, like you pointed out, they're not quite right and don't make a whole lot of sense. Otherwise great job!
for me I can see British Soldiers fighting demons in hell, where John Browne likes to think us who fight for cooperatrate business go after life.... I say bring it on.
FOR THE EMPEROR!!!!!!!!!
HD would've been nice...
3:28 "tipping me over"
The highs at around 0:22 sound like After the Burial's vocalist.
Especially the vocal pattern!
I tought it was indeed Anthony Notarmaso
bands dead rip Justin :(
my favorite of the album, what a catchy sound
Got to be the best song on the album
does anyone know where i can find lyrics for the album?
They haven't released the lyrics yet, I think their plan is to first release the story that is told in the lyrics, and then the lyrics themselves. :)
Beautifuuuuuuuuuul!!!!!!
The harmonies at the end remind me a lot of Blut Aus Nord with an indie touch. It's beautiful, I love it!
Does anyone understand the album cover?
And, the listener is the Amanuensis, who builds the story so to speak, yet it goes around in circles, like a samsara cycle, where the story has no beginning and no end. And the story goes on forever. Pretty deep shit, right? :D
But the picture of the album cover describes the story also told in all songs. The Man at the top, in the empty space, is I, the Creator, where Sam (the character) rebuilds Saga City after it was destroyed. How? The rest of the story is to follow...
The next part of the cycle goes to Origin Of Escape, when Sam has to escape Saga City, for unknown reasons, and makes a journey, where he has to cross the ocean for a long time, as described in the song Atlas. He meets the gatekeepers, whom he has to deliver a piece of himself to. That piece of himself is the Horcrux. Next, he proceeds through the Garden Of Sankhara, which tests him before he can reach The Alchemist, with whom he spends many years studying and training to become who he is "meant to be".
However, after training with the alchemist, Sam meets Quasimodo, and he realises that he isn't what he seems to be. Directly opposite side of the Origin Of Escape part of the cycle, Saga City is the song where he returns to the city, to the same place which he left many years ago.
Jinn, this song, is when Sam discovers that a sacred place in the city he created is poisoned by the demon and its master, and Sam battles against them. In I, The Destroyer, Sam falls prey to the influence of the demon and its master, and Sam becomes the God of Chaos, as it is foretold that he would become.
Samsara describes when Sam has destroyed Saga City, and is slowly dying, but is approached by a woman, "Sara". She reveals to him the true nature of his being, and so Sam creates Saga City again.
And, one last thing. Not only does the story cycle on itself, but musically, it cycles as well, ending in the key of B flat and starting in the key of B flat. They really worked on actualising the Samsara cycle in the context of a story and an album.
@eaglewings you, sir, deserve a medal. HIGHLY appreciate that. All makes sense, thanks for typing all that out.
+eaglewings I'm stunned. Here we have a reply to a YouTube comment that not only didn't devolve into ignorance and trolling, but it was actually informative to boot! Congrats, you have all Won the Internet. Drinks are on me.
Djent jokes are really not that funny any more
@Arzual weird time signatures and rhythm based riffing isnt a technique.
+DeOrestes sure it is. it's a technique compromised of other techniques.
@[epmF]xThe_noJx No it's not. That's like saying playing a minor chord is a technique. A technique is a label on a concept that requires some kind of mechanical movement. Like sweeping, or hybrid picking. Otherwise you could call anything a technique.
what if people just enjoyed the music and didnt have to make broad generalizations and judge others for their interests lol fuck me right?
3 years later and this comment is still dumb as fuck.
I thought the song was called Djinn?
I only read the first two. And now there's a fourth one that's a prequel. It doesn't feel like YA fiction, that's for sure.
@KFCZombie Explains why enjoyed it. Might read it again.
Well it is Djinnt
Actually a Jinn is an intelligent spiritual entity of a lower rank than an angel in Arabic and Muslem mythology. It is capable of appearing human or as an animal and is capable of possessing humans. Djinn are their negative counter parts.
Best god damn song on the album.
Definitely agree with you there
Fuck yeah along with i the creator!
I the Destroyer takes the cake for me, but this is definitely a close second.
Quasimodo has the best riff.
Can't agree more
