Montgomery Gentry - Daddy Won't Sell The Farm Lyrics
His cows get loose and run right thru the fast food parking lots
And Daddy gets calls from the mini-malls
when they're downwind from his hogs.
When his tractor backs up traffic, the reception ain't too warm.
The city's growing around him, but Daddy won't sell the farm.
You can't roll a rock, up a hill that steep.
You can't pull roots when they run that deep.
He's gonna live and die, in the eye of an urban storm.
Daddy won't sell the farm.
He worked and slaved in '68, he bought these fields and trees.
He raised his corn and a big red barn and a healthy family.
He learned to love the woodlands, he can't stand to do them harm.
There's concrete all around him, but Daddy won't sell the farm.
You can't pull roots when they run that deep.
He's gonna live and die, in the eye of an urban storm.
Daddy won't sell the farm.
One day he's gonna leave it all to me and I'll start my own branch of the
family tree. They'll get the message written on the roof of the barn,
Daddy
won't sell the farm.
You can't roll a rock, up a hill that steep.
You can't pull roots when they run that deep.
He's gonna live and die, in the eye of an urban storm.
Daddy won't sell the farm.
We're gonna live and die, in the eye of an urban storm.
Daddy won't sell the farm.
Oh you know a country boy can survive.

If you don’t like the common-wealth, what you doin in it?
Worked for an organization that helps out cotton farmers with a pest problem outside Austin Tx. The urban sprall had reached, for at least two more generations, it's limit. Multiple farms that have been worked by the same families since the Texas war of Independence. The older generation was starting to hand it down to the next and this generation are prepared for the battle against them from the city slickers.
275 people clearly didn’t grow up in the country
Them waved clouds in the sky, like sand bars on a beach, were always called, BuckWheat.
Rip troy gentry! Gone way to soon. Great music from these boys!

When the blacks move in next door, the crime picks up, and the property value drops, daddy will wish he had sold the farm.

Grew up on Kat country 103 .3 and Montgomery Gentry
I'm going4 miss, you Troy I grow up listing to them
Rest in peace. Troy.
Wish this song could even be true. Too bad there's so much eminent domain abuse. Stop taking farmers land for no good reason.
Around the 1 year anniversary of Troy's passing (hard to believe year has gone by) felt like living that day/week/month over again. Yet surprisingly haven't cried very much as I did at the time. I mean cried more over his death than my own family members (besides pets). In 2017 it was the most I cried without just being upset/sad in years with one exception of a lady's outside feral cat she takes care of (two brother cats) she thought got hit but wound up it wasn't her cat). I cried almost as hard for that cat too. Never me the cat or Troy (seen them play 2x)
And how this world started on food
It's the best farming song ever made
Never will.
I believe that that's very true
thank you for so many good songs love all
I only hope and pray that Troy is in heaven with Jesus Christ and God singing those great country music songs for the Angels
This song never gets old and never will!
RIP troy you are a legend of country music you will be missed dearly

Grandma's place where she was born, burned to the ground with my ex escaping. My aunt sold as soon as she cut the timber off it. I begged my Grandma not to give it to one person for that reason.
I have goats like Grandma , only sure had 600, need place to put them. Health not good have no family wants them.
