I love the whole concept of this song. The meaning is deep and the melody fits so well. And my not so innocent ears heard the “Swallow me again, like a faded illusion.” Yeah... I’ll just leave it at that.

From my understanding I see as the “ghost” is the other part of ourselves. It haunts us in its drowning thoughts and suffocates is. At our lowest points we let it take us and drown us. At that point it’s too far and we can’t get back up. But there’s that part of us that doesn’t want that to happen, we don’t want it to be. Basically every go on and off between of wanting darkness to take us and being able to get away from it.

It’s our negative personality we have in us. Our voice that says we aren’t capable and just give up.
