Monkees, The - The Day We Fall In Love Lyrics

There'll be birds singin' ev'rywhere,
And the wind will be blowin' thru your hair.
I'll look in your eyes
And wait for the prize;
Your lips kissing mine
With a love that is real.
And you'll look so young and fair

On the day we fall in love!
You and me
On the day we fall in love.
You'll see!

There'll be rainbows reachin' cross the sky
And we'll beoth be so happy we will cry.
We'll walk hand in hand
In snow or in sand
Whether roses are blooming
Or snowmen stand by.
Time will stop, for you and I

On the day we fall in love!
It will be on the day we fall in love.
You'll see!

And if the lines that I say fall apart,
It's because I won't know where to start.
But you'll understand when I say them to you,
'Cause they'll come straight from my heart.

On the day we fall in love,
You and me,
On the day we fall in love,
You'll see,
You'll see.

Monkees, The The Day We Fall In Love Comments
  1. G.... E....

No wonder the Monkees wanted to lynch "the Golden Ear" after this album came out.

  2. B.... B....

Sheesh!!! There are ABSOLUTELY NO BAD Monkees songs, mic drop 🎤

  3. J.... S....

Along with Teeny Tiny Gnome, the worst songs in the Monkees catalog. At least the powers that be kept Gnome unreleased until Missing Links.

    J.... S....

    Fuck off.

  4. B.... B....

    Guilty pleasure!

  5. A.... S....

At the time this was chosen for the L.P the same writers (Linzer & Randell) produced `I'll be Back Upon My Feet` Kirshner chose `Day` the other eventually surfaced on `Birds, bees etc` Anyone agree with me that I think he made the wrong choice?

    A.... S....

    Alan Smith Nope, love it!

    A.... S....

This was great choice for early Monkees.

  6. a.... ....

It’s not has bad as I remember but I’ll still skip it. Sorry Davy fans.

    a.... ....

    aylward48 I respect your opinion!

Fifty-one years ago, I found this song so tacky and simplistic, an embarrassment to the writer. Today, I find it beautiful for its simplicity and romanticism, no matter how contrived. I think Davy should have narrated a lot of shows over the years as he had a sterling British accent. I was not one of the fortunates to have seen him as the Artful Dodger. Alas.

    w.... ....

i think there is a scene of him on YT....they were on Ed Sullivan

What a pile of refuse. The guitars are totally out of tune and not being plucked properly at 0:38 and the guitars are also mixed too high. The lyrics are dreadful, definitely the worst I have ever heard without question. Sleazy, gross and vile.

    D.... M....

@Jon Dowe nope, happily married and just had my first gorgeous baby daughter 7 weeks ago! And it's still a pile of refuse.

    D.... M....

You have bad taste in music

    D.... M....

@She’s A Rainbow maybe I do. But I enjoy what I like passionately. If that is bad taste, so be it. Although, judging someone on one song is a ridiculous judgement. But hey ho.

    D.... M....

Apart from that Dave- you loved it!!

  9. E.... S....

More "Rap" than "Song"!!!! (Monkees way ahead of their time, HA!)

    E.... S....

    Davy raps

    E.... S....

@j v Prefix a `C` to that and it'll sum up that particular song.

  10. M.... S....

If you want the most saccharine Monkees song you've found it. Thank you Don Kirshner.

    M.... S....

Still a beautiful spoken word song and sentiment. Nothing wrong with that.

OMG, but how my older sister used to sigh & swoon when listening to Davy (her fav) sing this song.  She sure hoped it would be a song about her and Davy!
