Monkees, The - Our Own World Lyrics
One, two, three, four.
You, you blew my mind
You turned back time
You changed my tune
Saw starry skies
The sun and moon
And you’re a dreamer just like me
We don’t need reality
We’re in our own world (Our own little world)
We’re in our own world (Our own little world)
We’re in our own world
That nobody else can see
Dee dee-dee dee, dee dee-dee, dee, dee dee-dee
We been writing rhymes
And trading lines
It sounds so good
We been making plans
To start some bands
Just like we should
And you’re a schemer just like me
Got no fear of authority
We’re in our own world (Our own little world)
We’re in our own world (Our own little world)
We’re in our own world
That nobody else can see
And no one knows where we go or what we do
And I don’t mind wasting all my time with you
’Cause you’re a dreamer just like me
Really don’t need reality
We’re in our own world (Our own little world)
We’re in our own world (Our own little world)
We’re in our own world
That nobody else can see (Dee dee-dee dee, dee dee-dee, dee, dee dee-dee)
Except you and me (Dee dee-dee dee, dee dee-dee, dee, dee dee-dee)
Except you and me (Dee dee-dee dee, dee dee-dee, dee, dee dee-dee)

Monkees, The Our Own World Comments
CAN WE PLEASE HAVE BANDS LIKE THE MONKEES, THE BEATLES, ETC. BE REMEMBERED FOR ETERNITY!!!???
This albums on my shopping list for my next order. This is the best Monkees album of all time they just got better instead of older lol. Fantastic and to think they were a manufactured band to start with too. RIP Peter and Davey.
Adam Schlesinger is a great songwriter and producer. Great track.
power pop!!!!!
BRILLIANT !!!
love that song
i listen to that song every day
cause Micky is still a great drummer musician and not metioned he is a very talented
This could be a Take That song ))
I LOVE music like this! I feel like I'm in the 60's! 😍😍
What a brilliant song! " We"re in our own little world that nobody else can see....."
Not 1 fucking comment out of 22k?? haa Can I get a "woot woot" for this little gem pleaae?! Anyone?? Beuller?
Thank you!!!! This came out on the day before my 64th BIRTHDAY!! HEY, yeah!!!
That bass!
This one needs to be a "single" for sure. It has car radio written all over it.
My favorite track on Good TImes....Great upbeat tune!
Love it!!! Definately refers to "The Monkees" TV show!!!!
One of the most underrated bands, but they proved, in the end, to be a great band with some good, solid material. How many of those bands that disrespected The Monkees back then are gone while fans still love The Monkees? So what if they weren't a band that got together on their own to play in the garage before hitting it big. They started as a television band, but more than proved that they could hold their own and they gave us some great music and memories.
We love and miss you, Davey Jones. You did great things while you were here.
Sheila: My Mom had a bunch of 45's when I was a little kid back in the 70's and one of them was, I think, I'm a Believer, with the B-side I'm Not Your Stepping Stone. I played the crap out of that song, loved the show and always thought they were a real band first, before the show as I was only born in '67 and didn't know any better until I found out years later. Even though the show was pretty campy, I always thought their music was great! Even though I just turned 50, I still think they are awesome! I became a teen in 1980 and became a real headbanger with all the heavy metal coming out then, but this music takes me back to the simpler times of the 70's when I was a little kid.
Won tickets to see the "boys" tonight! Front row center, and I am beyond stoked! ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
How can Micky Dolenz still sound this awesome at 71? It's incredible.
He is amazing - talented and amazing. NO way he sounds 71. He sounds like he did back in the 60's. :)
Thats what i was thinking
Such a great tune
Oh My! I love this. I am being transported to the Brady Bunch Show. It is actually happy music.
I HOPE everyone out there who's a fan of The Monkees buys this album on whatever format to make it No.1,especially here in NZ
wow this album sounds great! Haven't been this excited for an album since the Beach Boys came out with theirs back in 2012.
Sunny days are here again.
Adam Schlesinger -- wonderful job! Such a great tune, and so is the guitar solo :-) I love the funny backing vocals by Mike and Pete. I don't need to mention Micky. You, guys, have to give us more :-).
This song is one of my favorites so far i love all i have heard
I was at a party when I first saw Mike talking to John Lennon. I heard Mike say The Monkees got no respect from anyone.. I was about to intervene when I was pulled aside to meet Andy Warhol. But all I want to say to The Monkees is your still here going strong as ever. First met them on the set of "Head". And they still have it...All the way man! Davy Jones you are missed. R.I.P.
Michael Denham, you might want to recheck the timeline. If you met them on the set of "Head", and the situation you describe happened in 1967... it doesn't add up. I do hate to bother you with that of course, since it's obvious your intent here is to name drop.
Shirts, Ha!
Michael Denham - I don't know if The Monkees committed "suicide" with the film so mcuh as having been "murdered" by Raybert. After all, if the film had been a smash hit, then they'd have been stuck working with them on at least 1-2 more films and that would keep them from becoming part of the "New Hollywood Scene". They had to sink them.
@William Byron - Sharing history...or name dropping. Does it matter ?
@William Byron - And if you researched his name, you'd see that he was a journalist and photographer, for Rolling Stone back then. Now THAT'S name dropping.... ( Funny that he didn't toot his own horn on that. )
such a great tune...this is the sound of the 60's. at the end of the tune, I just want to jump up and say, "Ladies and gentelmen, here are The Monkees!" My sons already love the tune! Well played gentlemen
Micky has one of the best power pop voices out there...
Very nice.A very much needed breath off fresh air.
No vinyl until late summer though :-/
Man this is what I always imagined it could be. Fantastic work with fresh new recordings . The album sizzles with flavor and that Monkee Magic - just like we all grew up with in the sixties.
It is an awesome album!. Fun and energetic, is it the 60's again?!!
my thought exactly!!! :)
this is the best cd of 2016!!!!
I love the song, but does anyone else hear the Sesame Street theme song in the beginning chords? Lol!
Exactly, I mean it does sound like Sesame Street, horrible stuff. Nothing even close to their original albums, which were great. I this started out with album they would have been in trouble.
Reviews happen to say this is their best album (after compilation albums), so you are on your own.
+Craig York I never said I didn't like the song, or the album. I think they're both fantastic!
@faeheart Glad you agree, I have been singing "You Bring the Summer" to myself all day, catchy as all hell.
Awesome! I'm loving everything from Good Times, that inhale heard so far. I can't wait to get mine tomorrow! Thank you!
Not inhale - good grief, what I heard
Sounds like this album is gonna bring some summertime fun!!!
