Monkees, The - Ladies Aid Society Lyrics

In every little town and village too
Somewhere in the neighborhood
You'll find a little band of ladies who
Can't stop doing good
Good for the pigeons in the park
Good for the weekly tea
Good for the national bank where they keep their treasury

We're the ladies aid society
And we're really a great bunch of girls
We're the ladies aid society
And soon we'll take over the world

Here they come marching down the street
Witgh their picket signs in hand
With their blue and white pleated uniforms
And their all girl five-piece band
Down with long haired singing groups
Down with the mayor too
And if you're under 65 they're down on you

We're the ladies aid society
And we just want to sell you the truth
Were the ladies aid society
And it's time we clamp down on the youth

We're the ladies aid society
and we're really a great bunch of girls
We're the ladies aid society
And soon we'll take over the world

We're the ladies aid society
And we just want to sell you the truth
Were the ladies aid society
And it's time we clamp down on the youth

Monkees, The Ladies Aid Society Comments
  1. B.... B....

    I've always liked it.

  2. G.... ....

Channeling Harry Nilsson on this one or maybe a lost track from the Kinks Village Green lp. Really a fun little tune, love these hidden gems by the Monkees.

  3. B.... B....

A DEFINITE TRACK meant for the (Unreeleased) Boyce & Hart Produced "More of The Monkees" album (along with "Kicking Stones") emulating Syd's Salvation Army section of Jugband Blues" a year before Syd recorded it(?!?!) - "Brent theGent" (The "LONG-FORGOTTEN MUSICOLOGIST") (Ask Bill Inglot).

  4. D.... L....

Is Davy channeling Ray Davies? This song would fit well on "Something Else by the Kinks."

  5. T.... T....

I remember this tongue in cheek song by the Monkees. We couldn't stop laughing every time we played it as kids. It's too bad they didn't do this as a script for the TV show. it would be a classic comedy clip for sure, knowing the Monkees Tv show. I could see the script now...Monkees help little old ladies fight city hall, Davy is once again forced to dress up as a woman, a little old lady, to spy on the evil Mayor, keep the ladies from getting evicted, and keep their club building from being demolished to put up a parking ramp. then the Monkees all disguise themselves as little old ladies and sabotage the ribbon cutting ceremony with stink bombs, letting loose some mice, cats ads skunks and an Advark...then the Monkees sing their own music on the band stand disguised as Bobby Vinton. At the end the Monkees sing their latest hit record and all the little old ladies are dancing with the hippies at the victory party and everyone is happy...the moral of the so try is the hippies and little old ladies all have something in common after all; "Down with the establishment!" well that about does it for a Monkees TV show script...if you have never seen the Monkees TV show, you don't know what innocent wacky ridiculous fun crap you missed out on, lol, so start watching them on youtube. It's okay to be 13 again...really...I'm not kidding...stop watching all that other disgusting BS and watch this harmless innocent BS instead.. dust off your Monkees lunch boxes and get going.

  6. I.... a....

Unfortunately, Trixi, it's in an edited Stereo version (How I wish They released the FULL SESSION STEREO TAKE!) - "Brent the Gent" (The "Long-Forgotten Musicologist").
