Modest Mouse - Lounge Lyrics
He don't remember, how it got there
It had a number, written on his forearm
It spelled disaster
All hoping, all hoping for dancing
He was looking, and looking stunning
She sat, she sat in the backseat
The car was plush but had no heat
And no not no one was blushing
Their technique was so damn right
All right, and!
He read the note in the black light
He thought he read minds and was not right
That line still made him seem charming
His clothes were shining, shining

Masterful
greatest depiction of an awesome bipolar high abruptly fading away and suddenly realizing your back in this sad world. Isaac I get it
beautiful
I love the pickup at 1:30. How it just gets more frantic.
I like the second half of the song
same i used to always skip to it but listening to the first part makes the second better i think
This blows.
Get really baked then listen again. You might find the beauty in this song one day.
I want to shit on your pillow
Does anyone know if they still play this song live!? If I could witness it or find footage I think I could die happy.
4 people should meet the fate of a man sized mousetrap...audio philistines!
every mm song there is one person calling out the dislikes
andstarvinwasborn wow dislikes havent changed in a year, lets change that
andstarvinwasborn jk
hasn't changed in two years
Everyone loves this song deep down in their heart. How can you not?
this song seriously changed my life
How so?
Wow.... That endless instrumental... So serene... I could die to this song... Damn i need to stop listening to this album its fucking with me!
@ap2pat right?
GREATEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME. I'll take that to my grave. this album got me through high school. It may not be their most sophisticated work, but it's their most raw, real work. Eric Judy's bass in this album is surreal. that bass line at the beginning of Beach Side Property gives me chills to this day, after about my 5,000th listen.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that has thought that while listening to the second half. So true
Modest Mouse and sneaky depression are the only constants in my life.
Masterpiece.
I believe it says Part 5 because it's track five on the album.
Yes that what the "Part 5" is for :)
Brilliant. Especially from 2:33.
agreed love modest mouse but on this song i always start at that point
This album is honestly one of the best albums I ever heard so far and it got me through the last few weeks of my sophomore year in college. Thanks Modest Mouse.
Nice to see another Nigerian that likes Modest Mouse like me lol
It's nice to see brothers period lisrening to modest mouse.
Lounge is the original song from their 1996 album A Long Drive For Someone With Nothing To Think About. Lounge (Closing Time) is from their 1997 album The Lonesome Crowded West, and is a different song altogether, though it could be a sequel song of sorts.
I downloaded a torrent with Lounge (Closing Time) on it instead of this version, which one is correct? I'm confused
I know it's been two years, but if someone else is confused currently, the Lounge (Closing Time) song is just another song from their classic album The Lonesome Crowded West and is entirely different. Both are correct.
The torrent messed a lot of people up with this one. Sadly some people have never heard this song because of it.
That is the point!!
yeah the whole song is hard to understand but once you know the lyrics it all becomes clear
Its so badass when this song peaks!!
Its "Their technique was so damn right all right and"
I have, thank you for your pissy concern.
Everything About Modest Mouse Is Amazing!
there is lounge (closing time) and then this. Why does Pink Floyd have 3 parts to "another brick in the wall"?
yall are so cheesy
I came as a rat?
Where did you find it?
This song makes me wanna dance like an idiot
had to scour the fucking earth for the correct torrent..
Please. If you have a glimmer of sympathy in that sad, sappy heart of yours... Link it. For God's sake, please link it.
dude I totally know what youre talking about!!! there was a show rupert :) but the song I think you are referencing is little bear...oh innocent times they were
Check out my page if you would like to hear some sounds that are slightly off and crazed like this.!! Please, I would appreciate it.
*weeping* for all those who had "Lounge (Closing Time)" on their "Long Drive" album not knowing that there was another "Lounge". I feel your pain.
Dude!!! It took me so long to get it right. But hearing it on vinyl the first time gave me chills.
oh my god. little bear.... yes. just yes.
If you like the instrumental part, you might wanna check Javanese instrumental songs. They sound really really similar to this. I even thought that MM might've been inspired by the Javanese instrumental songs. :)
The other one is called "Lounge (Closing Time)".
Why does Modest Mouse have two songs named "Lounge"? It has always confused me!
They made a new song using a similar guitar rhythm. Almost like a sequel.
and this song is smooth as fuck, just had to point that out
480p is a whole different song; i never use cliche youtube comments but the contrast so huge that i had to point it out
this reminds me of star wars for some reason
sick song!
This is. The best song.
Time to shave again
yes your wright it's beautiful
Zero dislikes, how it should be.
@MsKenzaroo god dammit, now i keep thinking about little bear
I just smoked a joint and shaved my ballsack to this song.
@KillWill3 you should listen to more mouse
@KillWill3 it's actually really easy to play on guitar yet it's the most profound thing i think i've ever heard. but it somehow reminds me of the cartoon little bear.
The ending comes out right from Can`s Tago Mago!
@AfraidOfFears Brilliant comment!
@KillWill3 i think the peaceful parts of this album wouldn't be as powerful, if it wasn't for the contrast of the hectic energy in the other parts.
@redbullgvsuwngs9 The weed doesn't make the music better the music makes the weed better
@redbullgvsuwngs9 Don't be angry if he enjoys music stoned. Certain drugs can really take a song and show you it from a different perspective, and on top of that Isaac used a shitload drugs that no doubt inspired him to write some of your favorite tunes.
@MyHoboCoat Oh my god. Listen to this while reading stupid comments. Ruins the song.
@allengarren ohh, my god. yes.
Closing time, every new beginning is some other beginnings end.
@KillWill3 yeap and world at large i bot this album i realy like the old mouse you no!
@KingFishGuy he said in his own opinion "one of the most beautiful things" not that it was best, so there was nothing to disagree with
@KillWill3 i disagree, the second solo in night on the sun i would have to say is the best
Wowzers
this song was written about melissa. she deserves it.
Oh and also this song sounds like Donnie Darko with the "he had a number writte on his forearm, spelled disaster" haha but this song was before that movie came out.
this song is about two people having sex and then falling asleep
