I've actually had the same thought, and so I started wondering what the key distinction would be between music like this and 90's emo. I would say upbeat 90's emo is like this, but with more complex guitar riffs and drum patterns. Would you agree?

Pop music has always been shallow and stupid, it's meant to pander to the lowest common denominator, this album wasn't well received when they made it, it doesn't represent the mid ninties in pop music, although it is a great album, it's the minority, just as good music is released today, it's under the endless sea of shit that is modern pop.

It really is sad that modest Mouse doesn't make music like this amy more.. I guess its bitter sweet. As soon as Isaac quit hard drugs, his music became a little less... 'powerful' I guess. Still good, but in a TOTALLY different way than this. :P

It was released in 1994 on the Blue Cadet-3, Do You Connect EP. I assume it was self done on cassette like their first demo was that year.
