Mitski - Humpty Lyrics

At first I thought this was about being with somebody abusive and always walking on eggshells as the phrase goes. I think the section about taking more and more indicates that the humpty dumpty character is the voice that’s singing. I find it so refreshing that a songwriter is able to create a song from the perspective of someone who is creating this eggshell environment and trying to clean up after themselves but everything keeps falling apart when they do. So many singer songwriters want to create a hero character that they can play in all their songs but I feel like Mitski is one of the few that’s willing to play the one at fault. What do you all think the song’s about?

wtf mitski's less recent music is so underrated..she is so genuinely beautiful and raw and her voice is gentle but powerful and suspenseful and emotional..i just love ALL of her music so much :D i hope more people come and listen to this album and her older songs and appreciate all of her music since the beginning :)

She deserves a lot

They showed him by the door the second time and I legitimately had to repress panic because I thought he wasn't going to sit in the tub with her again. Not sure what to make of any of this, or what to make of how it makes me feel, but end all be all it makes me feel something, and it's beautiful.
