Missing Persons - Go Against The Flow Lyrics

You say you wanna be free, no chains to bind you
Just come along with me, don't look behind you
You tried following, didn't get you anywhere
Tried to conform to a society that doesn't care
What the other people think doesn't matter at all
No need to feel like your back's against the wall
They don't wanna know, they don't wanna see
Faking everything, chasing fantasy
If you wanna be wild, if you wanna stand tall
Let's stand together, we can take it all

We can go against the flow 'cause I'll be there beside you
Do just what we wanna do
We can go against the flow, the feeling deep inside you
No one can stop us from what were gonna do...

Sad state of affairs, you've got your future spent
That's why you laugh at those who dare to be different
To close your open mind or try to understand
The answer waits for you but not so close at hand
So many have tried, so many have failed
Fallen soldiers lie beside the darkened trail
I can see the sound, I can hear red
I can feel the thoughts deep inside your head
If you wanna be wild, if you wanna stand tall
Let's stand together, we can take it all

We can go against the flow 'cause I'll be there beside you
Do just what we wanna do
Go against the flow, the feeling deep inside you
No one can stop us from what were gonna do
No one can stop us from what were gonna do

Visions of blindness, conformity, rage in your head
But life without choice isn't living when freedom is dead
You wanna be wild
You wanna stand tall
Let's stand together, we can take it all

Be there beside you
I'll be there to guide you, to take you anywhere
You know how much I care
You know how much I care
Go against the flow
Go against the flow
Go against the flow
Go against the flow
Tall, wild
Stand tall
Be wild
Stand tall
Be wild
From our feelings
From inside

Missing Persons Go Against The Flow Comments

My satanist brother often told me not to push the river. I didn't listen. Now I am famous and he is dead.

  2. philip wilkins

Fantastic song. I see an import CD is available in the US on Amazon for only $37.99 and it will ship in 1-2 months (so not kidding!). I'm glad I have this album on vinyl. I met Terry Bozzio years ago when he was doing drum clinics for his equipment sponsor. He is a very pleasant guy to talk to and really got a laugh when I told him that I used to sign his and Dale's names on hall passes that I had stolen in high school. LOL. Got away with it for a while but one of the teachers busted my buddy and demanded to know who Dale Bozzio was. Ah 1984...

Sweet, Missing Persons were so awesome, even though they lasted such a short amount of time. Regards that CD on Amazon, it's a Japanese import. They were reissued last year but only in Japan and have different bonus tracks to the One Way versions (which are still rare and expensive). Dunno how they sound.

Can somebody please tell me where I can LEGALLY download this song?!?!?

    Mike Spencer

It is out of print in the West due to a licensing issue. There were some Japanese remastered CDs last year though. They are not cheap but still in print.

I bought each album on vinyl when they originally came out, then about 10 years ago, bought all 3 on CD... have all 3 on my Ipod.. Missing Persons was my first musical obsession, and I can still listen to them today.. I never get tired of their music!!

  11. Pentii Plenty

My anthem. Thanx for uploading! I´ll have a couple of MP songs at my funeral. Absolutely love, LOVE this band. They were always really inspiring! /Per, guitarist, Grand Pop Station, Stockholm, Sweden

@Pentii Plenty You're welcome, and that's awesome because I lived in Stockholm for three years, and I became a fan of Missing Persons whilst there. :) Got the first two albums on vinyl in second hand stores, and then had to order Color In Your Life online cause I couldn't find it. I also love this band immensely, they are just far more deep and progressive than new wave bands ever get credit for being. I'm surprised that they are so obscure in the UK, cause from what I can tell they were pretty huge in the US and Sweden.
