Misfits - Day The Earth Caught Fire Lyrics

There was life here once
The tension, the harshness of life,
Lost in the flow of time
Now comes crumbling down
The land will be covered in darkness
Premonitions of sorrow and anger, even so
Things rush on, fleeing, changing,
never facing it, straight on
To all things under creation...
Never facing it, straight on

well i know

Woah-oh Woah-oh the Day the Earth Caught Fire
Woah-oh Woah-oh the Day the Earth Caught Fire
Woah-oh Woah-oh the Day the Earth Caught Fire
Woah-oh Woah-oh the Day the Earth Caught Fire burn!

Misfits Day The Earth Caught Fire Comments
  1. C.... R....

It's just three songs they did for this right? Is there a 7'' version or just cd format?

  2. A.... B....

    Good work Boyz!

  3. p.... ....

Ugh I freakn love this cover

  4. S.... J....

This is the best they sounded since glen left

  5. N.... P....

Balzac's teaching Jerry the know-how of horrorpunk

  6. r.... ....

i listened to this on repeat when i was twelve and i havent heard it since.. its like a part of my soul has been revived!

  7. L.... B....

the ONLY vocal performance Only ever did that was worth a shit.

  8. T.... ....

I think Jerry should sing like this more if he's gonna make another Misfits album. Compared to Devil's Rain, he sounds more aggressive and more punk.

  9. p.... F....

    I think that's a great track

  10. M.... H....

This song is awesome, but I did not like "The Devil's Rain" much at all. Jerry's vocals here are great, but on the album it seems he's holding back or just not trying as much. Okay, "Curse of The Mummy's Hand" was a good song, but I'm just not feeling that album.

  11. M.... J....

    not Misfits.

    M.... J....

Sure it is. It's the Jerry/Dez/Marky lineup. They did a split with Balzac. This is the 'fits side, and they are covering a Balzac song. Balzac (signed to Jerry's label) returned the favor on the B-side covering "Don't open to Doomsday/
    the Haunting".

  12. W.... A....

    You suck

  13. D.... O....

People arguing about who this is may not understand the concept of split albums.

"Day the Earth Caught Fire" is a song by the Japanese horror punk band Balzac from their 1995 album The Last Men on Earth. In 2002 it was covered by the Misfits for a split single celebrating Balzac's signing to the newly formed Misfits Records, with Balzac covering a medley of the Misfits songs "The Haunting" and "Don't Open 'Til Doomsday" from the 1997 album American Psycho.

Ah, Wikipedia, how helpful you are.

    D.... O....

One of the best splits of all time is WIZO/High Standard.

    D.... O....

    that story is insane,
Balzac is such a dope band.

    D.... O....

also, where do i get this split?!?

  14. C.... C....

    John3:16?

  15. G.... ....

This is Balzaac, sorry guys, but Jerry sucks, trust me, I hate to say it since I am a huge fan of the Misfits, but when this broken English sounds better than the crap they've been cranking out lately, there really is only one conclusion.

    G.... ....

Then my advice is for you to keep wallowing in your ignorance and not look up Balzaac

    G.... ....

    @Sincado Pretty sure its Balzac.

    G.... ....

It is a Balzac song but the also did a version with jerry only singing and this is it. Maybe you should look up Balzac

    G.... ....

This isn't Balzac with Jerry singing, it's the Misfits (Jerry/Dez/Marky at the time). They covered Balzac on the disc, and Balzac covered "don't open to doomsday" and "the haunting".

    G.... ....

    Jerry is a fucking embarrassment!

  16. S.... ....

Pretty much the best Jerry Only lead songs the Misfits have put out and it's not even on an actual Misfits album. Total bummer, man.

    S.... ....

Wonder why Jerry doesn't sing like this more often

  17. a.... ....

    It's Balzac and Jerry Only

  18. U.... ....

Haha, that's because it's not Misfits, it's a Balzac cover.

  19. f.... ....

who is this Balzac of which you speak?

  20. S.... ....

oO thats cool.. I totally agree.. want to say something like.. the same. some punkshop gave me a balzac cd as a gift years ago.. i fucking love this cd

  21. D.... F....

I find this to be one of the only non-Danzig Misfits songs that I like.

  22. H.... &....

I really wish this was the way that Jerry Only continued to sing, a more traditional early 80s hardcore style rather than trying to belt it out and falling flat on his face like he did with Devil's Rain.

  23. B.... ....

to each their own I suppose, I personally didn't like them but I guess I could see how someone else would, rock on

  24. E.... ....

true especially since Balzac originally started out as a Misfits cover band and were taught all they know by Jerry Only and Doyle Von Wolfgang

  25. r.... ....

    These dudes fuckin suck!

  26. D.... C....

@EpisilonX @Dfiend92 Okay IMO I like the Misfits more, But he likes Balzac more doesnt mean you have to bash him, Balzac actually is a pretty decent band, Dont knock it till you try it..

  27. E.... ....

@Dfiend92 first off, why the hell are you getting mad? I like Balzac better than misfits, yes. Balzac just have more styles in their music, which I like, since I love diverse bands. Misfits are great, probably my second favorite punk band (after balzac). And I love japanese music yes. My favorite band is dir en grey.

Of course Balzac got popular because they toured with misfits. That doesn't mean I can't like them more than misfits. Judas Priest became popular touring with Reo Speedwagon

  28. E.... ....

I love misfits and I love Balzac. I prefer Balzac, however

  29. E.... ....

@colclumper this is Jerry Only's version of Misfits, covering Balzac's song The Day The Earth Caught Fire

  30. m.... ....

@Chigo21 Even moar hilarious the kids who talk about Balzac like they're so great, yet they forget the Misfits were a classic band WAY before Balzac's time. Sad some kids here them before the Misfits.

  31. c.... ....

Is this a Misfits cover band?

  32. d.... ....

I did not like the song before was better misfits

  33. S.... D....

    BALZAC IS FREAKING AMAZING!

  34. E.... S....

can someone send me devils rain?

  35. C.... ....

@BobTheSkeleton Father was a great one, and every Misfits album (Danzig, Graves, Only) are all good in their own way. So I see what you mean

  36. B.... ....

@CountDruckula Dark Shadows I thought was a pretty kick ass, and so was Father, honestly if they had just cut the two I mentioned earlier i thought it would have been a perect album.

  37. C.... ....

@BobTheSkeleton No, I'm not, I like a lot of Graves' songs. I might give Devil's Rain another try because I only liked 3 songs the first time through and I feel I should,

  38. B.... ....

@CountDruckula eh, I actually kinda liked it "where do they go" and "sleepwalkers" were a little werid, but everyother song I thought was find, then again im not one one of thoes fans who automaticly hates it because danzig isn't there, im not saying you are, but there are alot of fans who don't even give it a chance before dismissing it as crap.

  39. C.... ....

@TheGuinnessboys yep, and the new album wasn't that great

  40. M.... A....

    @CountDruckula yeah that stinks man.

  41. C.... ....

I'll listen to The Devil's Rain but I still think Only is a fucking dick for not letting Danzig back into the band in 2002.

  42. J.... U....

Jerry is actually really good for the Misfits, I think. I can't wait for The Devil's Rain. THREE DAYS!!!!

  43. D.... G....

I hope The Devils Rain atleast sounds similiar to this and not Project 1950(not that, that album was bad it, but it sounded nothing like the Actual "Misfits")

  44. d.... ....

@sergeantRC Yeah, Jerry is an awesome guy. He often hangs out behind the venue before shows and kicks it with the fans. I met him and he was the most humble, down-to-earth dude.

  45. g.... a....

    new misfits??

  46. S.... R....

See This is Probably the Best thing they ever relesed that didn't have Glenn Danzig as Singer, I do Give credit to Graves he was Damn good but Jerry Is less Hardcore Than the others but I will love theses guys even after they go back to the grave

  47. E.... ....

@sergeantRC free backstage passes for free are always awesome

  48. S.... S....

    @esteban666ish lol ball sack

  49. C.... R....

Punk rock de primeira e claro depois de ramones, mas sim tem seu estilo e mata a pau tbm ....

  50. R.... ....

    @CottonCandyRemix
i know jerry only is vocals for misfits, what i was saying is that if you have john cafiero join and do vocals its pretty much osaka popstar. osaka popstar is John Cafiero, Jerry Only, Marky Ramone, Dez Cadena, and Ivan Julian. the misfits at this time were marky ramone, jerry only and dez cadena. only 2 additional members.

  51. W.... ....

    @NDNBulldozer na

  52. R.... ....

    @PAVN
yea, this is pretty much osaka popstar, just have cafiero do the lead vocals and tada, osaka popstar

  53. P.... ....

wtf is this? This isn't misfits...

  54. S.... Z....

    Good ass song!

  55. M.... K....

This is Balzac song, so you relay don't like Misfits, you like Balzac.

  56. M.... K....

But this is the Balzac song, ass!

  57. s.... ....

jerry should change the name of misfits but keep the crimson ghost emblem. srsly cuz misfits isnt even a band anymore. just too many peepz

  58. T.... N....

My favorite song by the misfits.

  59. F.... ....

    its horror punk

  60. r.... ....

no.......the newfits was jerry, doyle, michale graves, and dr chud, they are really the jerry only band now! this is cool though, and i do like all versions of the misfits, but they were the best from 77-83 when danzig was their singer and songwriter, danzig was the original misfit, he ran the fiend club himself, not jerry or anybody else! jerry just carried the torch after glenn!

  61. s.... ....

    long live for Punk Music

  62. J.... P....

"shitfits"????? i think not, this was actually very good =)

  63. C.... T....

this is a really good tune. and balzac returned the favor w/ a good version of "doomsday", altho the accent is a bit rough.

  64. D.... ....

    Jerry only rules!

  65. t.... ....

not the misfits, balzac.one of the many bands on jerrys`misfits record label.you stupid asses die!

  66. W.... V....

    fuck..
misfits isn't the same without danzig..

  67. R.... A....

    I really meant DEAF <--- :D

  68. R.... A....

Jerry Only is a bastard, Michale Graves is amazing, even I could have sung this, godamnit ppl are u blind

  69. C.... ....

Holy crap. Any time I listened to Jerry sing on live videos I thought he had no business doing vocal duty for the Misfits, but at least on a studio release, it seems he actually has some ability! Awesome! Hope still lives for another fun Misfits album.

  70. M.... K....

    The singer is fucking boss.

  71. M.... K....

    Be quiet, you petulent child.

  72. R.... ....

Hey man, where do you get this entire song?? I need it too !

  73. S.... ....

I want this song, I only have thhe "short" one

  74. D.... S....

    yes he is

  75. V.... ....

Damn i need to get this version i only have the short one love the misfits!!

  76. S.... ....

sry i had to say this but i think that danzig was a great singer i thin kgraves was good and i think jerry is a great singer but i dont understand why the danzig fans feel that way i always thought that danzig AND jerry started the misfits and i admire jerry for his determination and not giving up on the misfits so stop messin with jerry!!!!

    S.... ....

So, in 10 years have you learned the truth? Glenn started the Misfits, definitely in January 1977 but possibly prior to that in late '76'. Glenn had already named the band and he and Manny were working on songs that Glenn conceived; Jerry has even said he heard them practicing. There are at least two versions of how Jerry stumbled into the band; one where Jerry says he went into Manny's garage out of curiosity and one where Manny says he saw Jerry's bass in the back of his car and invited him in to meet Glenn. Jerry joined the Misfits knowing it was Glenn's band and that he [Glenn] and he alone writes the songs; just like all the other members did. The Misfits were doing fine without Jerry using the name from 1984-1994 and with the dawn of the internet would have continued to be discovered by new fiends; Jerry didn't keep the Misfits alive, The Misfits kept Jerry's musical career alive.

    S.... ....

Jerry has no talent. Graves and Danzig wrote everything.
