Miller, Roger - Invitation To The Blues Lyrics

I couldn't sleep last night I just walked the floor
Don't know how I stand this anymore
Lonely are the times since I lost you received your invitation to the blues
I don't know why you caused me such pain
I just hope I'll never go through this much again
Lonely me I don't know what to do received your invitation to the blues

You took the laughter from this world of mine thanks to you the sun will never shine
Walk the floor so much wore out my shoes received your invitation to the blues
I don't know why you caused me such pain...

fABULOUS ,the people who voted thumbs down wouldn't know a great song or singer if they heard one. I bet they are young because today's music is rubbish.

    Such great music.

  5. L.... D....

Someone once said if I could sing I would want to have Roger Miller's voice and I agree.

  6. B.... M....

Roger Miller wrote lots of good songs, Little Boy Trains, plus so more many.

  7. G.... H....

The first multiple country crossover artist. Terrific writer, performer, and unappreciated fiddler.

Never been a better country band (IMO) than the guys Ralph Emory brought in for the Nashville Now Show. That was back when country music was REAL.

  11. T.... H....

    One great country singer R I P

  12. m.... ....

Great version. Many good ones out there, including, Emmylou with Rodney Crowell Austin City Limits, Steve Fishell on pedal steel. Very good. Here it s the young Hoot Hester on fiddle. Imagine. Pedal steel player awesome. mosrite60

    m.... ....

@mosrite60 Yes,I really like the Emmylou and Rodney version. The Austin C. L. one you cite is the best of their live versions on you tube.

  13. P.... O....

My Lord what talent, Roger Miller  will stand the test of time in anyone's music collection.  The shear elegance of his lyrics and storyboard pictures it paints have rarely been  matched.  His life may have been short in comparison but his music is timeless.    Check him singing the second part harmony on the original with Ray Price who was in his prime singing this young kid's song. Roger looks as though he just got out of short pants.  Thanks for sharing this wonderful memory.  Paul O

  14. t.... ....

One of the best versions of this great song is by Patti Page.

    r.... ....

You ought to check out "King of the Road"

  17. R.... B....

Love this song, I just wish there was a better version online : (

  18. t.... ....

I remember Marty Robbins saying on a radio programme how highly he regarded Roger Miller's classic country ballads and he wouldn't have been a bad judge would he?!

  19. w.... ....

@packingten it's not quite the same, but it illustrates your point- look up pop country really sucks by hank III

  20. T.... ....

Thanks for a wonderful choice of Roger Miller Clip. Any idea which decade it dates from? Is it 80s?

    T.... ....

Late 80s or early 90s. Roger passed away not too long after that. Way too young. Such a great loss for true traditional county.

  21. R.... P....

Once upon a time I worked in a little country music station in Dothan, Alabama...WAGF. Dolly Parton was going to perform and a guy opened for her. I got to interview him...it was Roger Miller just months before he did "King of the Road" Strange but very affable fellow he was. I'm an old geezer now and I still like him.

  22. H.... M....

One word to describe Roger Miller...........GENIUS!

  23. D.... S....

  26. s.... ....

Oh Man - Roger wrote it an' a nice delivery on this cut! Love that phrasing, Roger. Just great. And Larry "Wimpy" Sasser on steel, Hoot Hester on fiddle an' Fred Newell on guitar, plus the rest of the Nashville Now band (which was a killer outfit all the way around). This is the real deal.

  27. C.... G....

I loved him when I was a kid and miss him very much now.
