Miller, Roger - In The Summertime (You Don't Want My Love) Lyrics

In the summertime
When all the trees and leaves are green
And the redbird sings, I'll be blue
'Cause you don't want my love

Some other time
That's what you say when I want you
Then you laugh at me and make me cry
'Cause you don't want my love.

You don't seem to care a thing about me
You'd rather live without me
Than to have my arms around you
When the nights are cold and you're so all alone

In the summertime
When all the trees and leaves are green
And the redbird sings, I'll be blue
'Cause you don't want my love.

Once upon a time
You used to smile and wave to me
And walk with me but now you don't
'Cause you don't want my love

Some other guy
Is takin' up all your time
Now you don't have time for me
'Cause you don't want my love.

You don't seem to care a thing about me
You'd rather live without me
Than to have my arms around you
When the nights are cold and you're so all alone

In the summertime
When all the trees and leaves are green
And the redbird sings, I'll be danged
'Cause you don't want my love.

Miller, Roger In The Summertime (You Don't Want My Love) Comments
  1. G.... T....

This is the actual original recording made before he changed to a kind of comedy singing and rerecorded this as In The Summertime You Don't Want My Love. Much better version than the later or the Andy Williams version

    G.... T....

Geoff Tuke GG, yeah but still kinda does have the comedy with do baa da ba baaa (I don’t know a word for that so I just typed that)

  2. D.... N....

What version is this? It sounds very Nashville/polished.

    D.... N....

Dan Najera it's on the king of the road: geniuses of Roger miller. all his best songs are on that album.

  3. P.... O....

My Lord - Roger Miller's delivery is far better and so much more than the commercial hit that Andy Williams enjoyed.  So much for taste....I guess.  RIP Roger

    P.... O....

Paul O yeah, sad for him not being here
