Why did they break up, I wonder?
They actually didn't break up. Adrian Lee (keyboards) left during recording Beggar on a Beach, Peter Van Hooke (drums) left shortly after the release of that album. The band continued with Mike and the Pauls (and session musicians) for two more albums and then Paul Young tragically passed away due to a massive heart attack. Mike and Paul Carrack released one more album and then Paul left to pursue solo work. Mike then formed a new version of M&TM with new musicians. They've released three albums (2011, 2017 & this year).

Another great classic from mike and the mechanics. I think mike Rutherford is one of the most prolific song writers ,he’s been churning out this stuff for over 50 years and he’s still doing it,well done mike.

Reconnecting with this album today; it was a favorite of mine when I was 13 (I'm now 43!). I can't believe how fast time goes by, I remember the lyrics as if I heard them yesterday.

I miss paul young aka youngy he sadly died in July of 2000 what a great singer he was wish he was still alive.
