Mike + The Mechanics - Did You See Me Coming Lyrics

Did you see me coming
Did you see I was there for the ride
Was I wasting time when I thought that I
Was with somebody with nothing to hide

Did you think about it
Did the thought even enter your head
Was it by design like the perfect crime
Did you mean every word that you said

I've tried putting myself in your place and I still feel the same
You've been looking to find an excuse
There's nobody else you can blame

Did you see me coming
Could you see me a good mile away
Did I talk too much
Did I laugh too loud
Was there something that I didn't say
Can I tell you something
Just in case you don't already know
Well it's crossed my mind
More than once that I
Should have left you a long time ago

Sometimes you make it look easy
To somebody like me
One day you're gonna turn around
And I'll be a bad memory
Did you see me coming
Did you see I was there for the ride
Was I wasting time when I thought that I
Was with someone with nothing to hide

Did you think about it
Did the thought even enter your head
Was it by design like the perfect crime
Did you mean every word that you said

I've tried putting myself in your place and I still feel the same
You've been looking to find an excuse
There's nobody else you can blame

I'm with Yvette , but tis is still a brilliant song

Liking this album. I love Paul Carrack's voice too. Tempted is my favourite Squeeze song ever and I've liked a lot of the MATM songs he's done. The only thing is, I'm not a big Genesis fan and by definition, much of MATM's material has that feel to it. Youngy always brings an extra dimension that allows me to feel the songs he sings in a way I can't always when the song is sung by Paul Carrack. He's just the best of the best in my eyes. And ears. Still I like this a lot, more than most, and about on a par with Something In The Way You Look At Me from Word of Mouth.

Hey again, I too am not a genesis fan , but still think carrack is brilliant , not as good as the man , but not far off ,!!, I think mike is a brilliant songwriter / producer , as I honestly cannot think of a bad song they've ever done .

I am the worlds biggest jethro tull / Ian Anderson fan , and have been since the late 70's when I first heard aqualung .

However I have to day that mand m are now my favourites , even though I've only really listened to their material in the last 4 years- brilliant

:) I like the Jethro Tull stuff I've heard. Ian Anderson is a complete legend! Between the two Pauls are my two favourite songs ever. Miracle, and Tempted by Squeeze. I love both their voices, but like you, Youngy is the business. I can listen to the man sing anything, even the Girobank ad lol One of the Caff Army posted the single he did based on the song from the Richard Shops ad in 1975. You might see that on YouTube at some stage. The chap it belongs to is going to try to record it properly. That was a Roger Greenaway song and the b side was a Youngy song, but that didn't play properly. I hope he gets it sorted. It's my biggest disappointment, that Mike Rutherford didn't let Youngy do any writing. At least not that I know of. Perhaps you could enlighten me? Chronicles is great. Emotional for me to listen to, but great all the same :)
