Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The - Like A Shotgun Lyrics
There is no argument here to avoid
And I just had a way of living I enjoyed
A selfish way to live but by design
I was so self centered at the time
You were us and I was only me
And if I told this to you I'm not sure
That I'm so goddamn insecure
A far more much much greater force
Can knock you back and off of course
Like a shotgun if there ever was one
Looked down the barrel of a loaded gun
And it was not intentional
And I am unconventional
Knocked down with a shotgun blast
And if it's happening to me
I'm as happy as someone like me
could be
I'm not so sure but what I said was true
That's no excuse for what I put you through
And it's awful if that's how you feel
I'm awfully sorry for the whole ordeal
The sadness and the sorrow and the pain
I swear to God and promise once again
That I will get around to showing you
So now I'm goddamn going to
A far more much much greater force
Can knock you back and off of course
Like a shotgun if there ever was one
Looked down the barrel of a loaded gun
And it was not intentional
And I am unconventional
Knocked down with a shotgun blast
I got a feeling that it's gonna last
And if it's happening to me
I'm as happy as someone like me
Could be now
Could be now
Like a shotgun if there ever was one
Looked down the barrel of a loaded gun
And it was not intentional
And I am unconventional
Knocked down with a shotgun blast
I got a feeling that it's gonna last
And if it's happening to me
I'm as happy as someone like me
Someone like me could be
Could be now

I'm trying to figure out the meaning of the song. Anyone have any theories?
Similar to The Jam , Going Underground.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
sound like the cure donts boy cry
"I'm as happy as someone like me could be" Awesome line! 👌
Great song, hope to see them play again some day!
Brilliant song, the horns sound so smooth and wonderful.
I caught them live twice in the 90s. Great shows. Lots of energy.
Kind of sounds like Bonzo Goes to Bitburg (My Brain Is Hanging Upside Down) during the chorus.
Does anyone else think that this song is just incredibly written and put together?,
It's one out of a million songs that just run as smoothly as this song.
#Bosstonesforlife
@Henk Wallenborn It is a brilliant song, the horns sound perfect.
I really liked this song at first and listened to it over and over for a while, but then I got bored of it real quick. That doesn't happen when it takes me many listens to grasp the genius of a song, like it happened to me with "Jump Through the Hoops".
Still, amazing stuff nevertheless.
Revival. And, shut up. That's what you get for listening to mainstream radio. This shit is always played. Crap, if they played it on the stations you listened to, nobs like you would be saying,"it's too bad this is mainstream now. You just talk, don't truly enjoy. I still listen to The Specials, Madness. I don't talk about it like some wanker expert. Jackass.
who cares if someone listens to mainstream songs or not. music affects everyone differently. just find music that you like and enjoy it. more people need to stop worrying about whats mainstream and what isnt
Of course it's also referred to as Beantown. Just because you don't like the name doesn't mean it's invalid.
it's been 10 months, how do you like it now?
Reminds me of Reel Big Fish's old stuff. Maybe I just like Trumpet.
Reppin boston! I hope they come back here and play soon

I'm so glad they are still around. I remember being a "rude boy* back in the day and skating to them, goldfinger, voodoo glow skulls. Nice to see them back.
Can't stop smiling.

Riding smoothly on the wheel that they invented.
All is well in this corner of the ska scene.
