Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The - I Want My City Back Lyrics
Up around 95, sailing down Storrow Drive
Left exit into Kenmore Square
Slowed down when I got there
And that's when it was crystal clear
It wasn't there, it wasn't where
I want my city back
Back the way it used to be
I want it back the way it was
I looked around and found
This doesn't feel like my hometown
And I don't like the way it does
Stepped out to take a closer look
Held in with every step I took
The sadness I felt just to look around
I looked up to the Citgo Sign
Do you agree with me at one time
This was once such sacred ground
I want my city back
Back the way it used to be
I want it back the way it was
I looked around and found
This doesn't feel like my hometown
And I don't like the way it does feel, feel
How should I feel when the place
Where I first learned I could feel
Is no longer where I left it
When I left it not so long ago
How should I feel? [x3]
Well I don't know
(I want my city back
Back the way it used to be
I want it back the way it was
I looked around and found
This doesn't feel like my hometown
And I don't like the way it does feel [x2])

Really tough question to wonder if this is racism. But my gut tells me, hell fucking no. But it leaves itself so wide open to the accusation. Weird, great song.
tyler0896 It’s not racist to want to defend your culture from degeneracy and corporate takeover.
Look what happened to Europe, Chicago, LA, San Fran, Portland...
If you think this is racist there is a big problem with you
There’s tons of white junkies at South Station and Harvard Square now too. Mass is just a shit hole in general. Anywhere run by democrats is.
7 years ago this released and it's all only gotten worse in Boston. Overflowing with yuppy, smug, condescending cunts right now
I want to be a Lamier Ave deigo!
Born and raised in boston....that's y I left...nothing like it used to be
Released just a few months after I left Boston for the first time. Been using this song as a touchstone to hep an ex navigate her own major move. <3
No longer where I left it when I left it not so long ago.....
Needing this song right now. Getting booted out of my apartment because of gentrification. this is my home, and all the real estate and apartment properties are getting bought out by out of state real estate companies. They're renovating and remodeling everything, sending rental fees through the roof. It's driving all of the low to middle income families out of our neighborhood, including mine. so sickening.
clashkid83 And now they steal tax money to put illegals in them to replace whites in their own countries...thanks a lot Jews!
This song seems fitting today.
I think that I'll raise my glass to The Rat tonight.
awsome song!
beautifull <---
:-) hell yeah this is a great song!
