Midnight Oil - Is It Now? Lyrics
There's a man who walks the lonely field at midnight
He wears a matching suit, steel tipped shoes and the diamonds
And he holds the dying flame, the loaded dice and the answer
He stalks the open road that leads form here to there
You'd better look out, watch out, beware
Crouched by the fence, sweat dries cold on your every breath
Where's the saviour that the critics dream about now
He's telling jokes to all the saviours in the ward
Be warned when it comes to that, to the point of indecision
When you hesitate, he'll make his choice for you
You better look out, beware
There's no safety here (no, no, no safety)
Crouched by the fence, sweat dried cold on your every breath
You think and recall what he said
He puts a name to every face
Table talk and wall to wall
Winners win the game, and the losers win the war
Resurrection, intersection, comic books and mass defection
Vinyl floor and sliding doors, nothing more
Lost the thread of conversation
Sentence fails and engine roars
No recall, blindfold to the stairs
Is it now?
Is it now?

Loki ...... and Ragnarök
Very underrated. Do your self a favour watch live at Melbourne show grounds
Head Injuries is perhaps my favorite Midnight Oil album, it's a little bit dark and very punkish. For sure reminds me to the Rock music from UK from the same tiem, like Sex Pistols or Joy Division, Motörhead, etc.
My mind explodes every time I hear this song!
Eddie Money meets Elvis Costello
Head Injuries is ao good my fav back on the borderline
you better look out beware,, great tune..n theres no safety here ... fck yes.. is it now
What a bloody fantastic track to finish the Head Injuries album with. I don't think its ever gotten any airplay or the exposure it deserved but the Oils played it live in the early days. Surfing with a spoon, the beach, the sand, waves and water, schooners of beer in the queue 10 deep at the bar, sweat dripping from the ceiling, Oils on Friday nights at the Antler Hotel in Narrabeen.
Yearning to go back. Alive.
Could not have said it better.
Pure magic
I absolutely agree brother
Fuck yeah....'me' was there at the 14 Hordern Pavillion gigs in a row in the late 80's.....punk before it was.......
Whoever wrote the bit at 2:44 deserves a Nobel Prize of some sort.
Yeah man! I'm trying to figure this song out to cover it but some the guitar chords are eluding me. I think it's mostly in E, then after the nobel prize part it goes up to G. It'd help if I didn't try to figure it out in my head going by memory haha. Head injuries, indeed!
If you go to the Oils main website, they have guitar Tab downloadable for every track!!!!!!
Awesome ending song to HI =)
The outro <3
What a great song, maybe their best album closer.
One of their best from one of their best albums
