Midnight Oil are national treasures and eerily their songs are just as relevant in 2019. The Oils are timeless and as an earlier commenter said up there with U2. We played US Forces at my brother’s funeral....it still makes me cry 30 years afterwards.

No an aussie, but in aboriginal folklore I'm pretty sure the world was created out of the dreamtime and that plays an important part in aboriginal culture too this day. Think it's kind of cool to have bands pay homage to the cultures that came before, we had a band up here in Canada that did that, the Tragically Hip, actually got recommendations for Midnight Oil discussing them. So cheers and whatnot Australia is pretty cool.

I live on the Texas, U.S. Gulf Coast and our dreamworld is already long gone. Hotels and other businesses destroyed a once pristine surf and wildlife spot! I surfed it in the 80's and it was great. I also lived on Oahu, Hawaii, U.S. in the 80's and went back recently and its as fucked up now as the east coast of Australia. Probably worse! My uncle lives in Queensland and said they are now encroaching almost as far north 300 miles north of Brisbane. He lives 200 miles south of Cape York in Far North Queensland the last unspoilt paradise on earth. If that falls, then there is no hope for humanity or the natural world. I shed a tear for the flora and fauna and native peoples fucked up by commercialism.

I never seen the ocean until I was 19...Just a country gal from Kentucky...back then ..years later I saw Pawley's Island South Carolina....I enjoyed watching surfers ...I am not a strong swimmer..so I knew better then trying walking out to far...Not to many surfers ,but I enjoyed seeing them...Oh I loved it ...I miss the beach...I can walk through the woods and not get lost no tree looks the same to me....the city not so much... I freak out.....ugh..
My ex husband tried to take me to Myrtle Beach....way to much for me..I like things simple ..
@Racheal Lange I lived in South Carolina for 3 years and went to Myrtle Beach twice. On my second trip and away from development, blacktop and concrete, I discovered Huntington Beach State park. 5 miles south of Myrtle Beach. The park ranger said this is the way an Atlantic Beach is supposed to look like. Take pictures and memories and leave nothing put footprints.
@Kevin McKinney I love places like that...I live in Bavaria,Germany now...My hubby is Bavarian..I have seen the Alps and even Roman ruins I am a rockhound ,but I respect nature..I love to see places were nothing is to be disturbed...I wish there was more places like that...I saw the most beautiful vain of dark purple fluorite here in Germany..Lucky it was protected ..I would have never got to see such beauty...It was an old fluorite mine ...We went on a tour of the mine..The owners of the mine let me have a small but to me lovely little fluorite..It is purple and green..I was over the moon...( I love green)

@Louie R Yep!! I saw AC/DC in 1976 when almost nobody had heard of them, just a room with about 200 people and loose plastic chairs. They were something else back then. Saw them again in 1977 in the same room and still hardly anybody knew of them, saw them again in 1978 when they broke and was present at the recording of "If You Want Blood". Yep, them were the days!!

His voice is much more natural than Bono's. And Midnight Oil didn't sell out to romanticized US pop music. I would argue that Midnight Oil and INXS were both influencers of U2 more than the other way around.
