Yes, QUITE A GENIUS! I didn't get into him til after he died... He won all these awards and when he won the award for best hip hop, everyone was all pissed off and he said " Fuck it, I am done". Then it was someone like Paul McCartney{don"t quote me} said"You have SO MUCH TALENT don't let it go to waste. Then he wrote WITHOUT PREJUDICE.

A direct quote from the man himself. “Something to Save is the first thing that I wrote, actually, for this album. I wrote it in Paris at the end of the Faith tour. I just had the feeling, especially having promoted and sung the Faith album for 10 months, I think all that huge electronic sound I kind of wanted to strip down and I wanted to write an acoustic song. Initially, I was going to put drums on it, but listening just to the guitars themselves, I thought it sounded clear enough. And load of people thought it wasn’t finished…but, its the kind of rhythm you expect a rock drummer to come in on the, you know, the second verse, or whatever, but I, I just thought it had more emotion and it had more, uhhh, clarity without any drums, you know, so I just kept it to the guitars and the cellos.”

This album truly deserved better than it got, and sadly, George didn't help matters much. Still, this and "Mother's Pride" would have made excellent singles, especially given the climate in which this album was released. "Praying for Time" was more or less unofficially adopted as a Gulf War anthem, but maybe "Mother's Pride" would have been more appropriate...

The backing harmonies are very Bee Gees which is no surprise as they were one of Georges influences. Its a shame George never wrote and sang with Barry Gibb. How awesome would that have been?

I grew up with George, he wrote and sung songs exactly the way I liked. However, for me this was his last Great album. Unlike Bowie who changed himself with times, George lost the rhythm and got lost within himself. But till 1991, he was unmatched superstar of music.

I've been listening to this on a loop since yesterday's awful news. His amazing voice still gives me chills on every listen. RIP Yog.
