Michael Franti & Spearhead - My Lord Lyrics

My Lord, my Lord, my Lord, my Lord
Show me all the things I need to know
My Lord, my Lord, my Lord, my Lord
Take me to the place I need to go

When I was born I was alone
I spent the rest of my life finding my way home
I chose the long road but it walked on me instead
I saw a sign there and this is what it said

We all get the time we're given
Mine ain't over so I'll keep on livin'
We all get the life we're livin'
Mine ain't over so I'll keep on givin'
Till the day I die

My Lord, my Lord, my Lord, my Lord
Show me all the things I need to know
My Lord, my Lord, my Lord, my Lord
Take me to the place I need to go
Here we go!

My Lord, my Lord, my Lord, my Lord
Show me all the things I need to know
My Lord, my Lord, my Lord, my Lord
Take me to the place I need to go

We all get the life we're livin'
But ours ain't over so we keep on givin'

I bought a guitar and I wrote a song
I wrote it down for you so you could sing along
The flames of my heart went pounding through my head
Turned into tear drops and this is what they said

My Lord, my Lord, my Lord, my Lord
Show me all the things I need to know
My Lord, my Lord, my Lord, my Lord
Take me to the place I need to go
Here we go!

My Lord, my Lord, my Lord, my Lord
Show me all the things I need to know
My Lord, my Lord, my Lord, my Lord
Take me to the place I need to go

Take me to the place I need to go
Take me to the place I need to go
Take me to the place I need to
Take me to the place I need to
Take me to the place I need to go

We all get the time we're given
Mine ain't over so I'll keep on livin'
We all get the life we're livin'
Mine ain't over so I'll keep on givin'
Till the day I die

My Lord, my Lord, my Lord, my Lord
Show me all the things I need to know
My Lord, my Lord, my Lord, my Lord
Take me to the place I need to go
Here we go!

Take me to the place I need to go
Take me to the place I need to go
Take me to the place I need
Take me to the place I need
Take me to the place I need to go

We all get the life we're livin'
But ours ain't over so we keep on givin'
Till the day we die

Bless you for sharing this powerful song - music is indeed a great tool for expressing one's spiritual journey. My channel is my method for my own spiritual journey showing music, inspirational/spiritual verses and photographic images combined can inspire & move people in much the same way that your beautiful music does. Thank you.

Who could do a thumbs down to this? Up to life and creativity and resiliency and the genius of life. Mahalo Michael Franti family and Spearhead for helping us to understand that understanding ourselves, and ourselves as a collective conscious - nationality, humanity - music definitely brings all of us together. MAHALO!

    Michael Thank you!
I was Born and Raised Catholic and over the years I lived a roughed life
Eventually learned and owned up to my mistakes cleaned up
Found the greatest woman married her and have 4 kids
20 plus years later somehow I felt the calling to get baptised and I became Protestant
Later found some of the teachings hard to swallow and didnt make sense to me
So needless to say I stopped going to Church
I love music of all kinds and genres and with different messages the same kind that my Fellow brothers from church believe to be bad
I play guitar and love my family and do right with my family and friends and strangers
Somehow while I was attending church I found an inner battle to live and believe the way Christianity has been interpreted to be
I live most peaceful when I speak out and not going to Church
Songs like this"My Lord" I believe are Inspired by the most powerful and loving I call our Creator
Thank you brother and keep keepin' on
