i remember the end of summer before i began my sophomore year of high school.
the days went by at a snail's pace. two days before school started back up again, i sat out on my front steps. i remembered my freshman year- i was a miserable, stuttering, awkward mess who made friendships, then left them to rot to escape the pressure. it ate me up inside.
as a result, i went to see a therapist over the summer. i learned so many things i should've learned a long time ago: you don't always have to be entertaining. thoughts are just thoughts, words are just words, feelings are just feelings. noone ever assumes the worst about you. don't second-guess experiences. now that i knew these things, i was certain that i was going to do just fine two days from then.


but as i sat there on the front steps, thinking and thinking and thinking, there was just this sinking... _uncertainty_ that i couldn't seem to shake off.
but you know what?

Ocular Spectrum is honestly why MGMT isn't as popular anymore. The album was so good I think people were expecting all their albums to be on this level.

Oystertits Oreopieces was by far their best.

Congratulations is better, and MGMT is a grower not a shower, and if you listen to it enough it eventually gets better than Congratulations. This is a sophomoric effort at best, and it's damn near perfect, meaning the best is yet to come from MGMT.

...well, its gonna make history for fans of trippy indie rock...? And, what does it matter if they dont like being popular, that doesnt make them any less popular, at least among psych rock listeners. No one really likes being liked just cause theyre pop music, thats pretty lame, MGMT doesnt roll that way.
